Extractions: I'm currently a student at Humber College finishing up my Wireless Telecommunications certificate and my Electronics Technology program part time. I also work at EFOS Inc . The main reason I did this page is an assignment for my Wireless Data Networks class (wls707) taught by Ms. Ming Mei Diao. Since this is my second attempt at producing a web page so it looks better than the first attempt I mention below. I have a sub-page with a brief introduction to computer networking included here . I'm also seeking full time employment at the moment and have my resume online. I also have a few hobbies which include playing guitar rather badly since I don't have time to practice. I am also trying not to neglect my social life and I'm open to trying new things. I'm also into amateur radio and I've got my licence (VE3SSQ). Currently I'm only active on the 70cm band (430 - 450 Mhz) in voice and packet modes. Early Modern Literary Studies http://purl.oclc.org/emls/04-1/rev_cum2.html The REED: Somerset volumes are another valuable addition to REED's growing collection of volumes of edited dramatic records. As all those interested in renaissance entertainment should know, the aim of the project is "to find, transcribe, and publish external evidence of dramatic, ceremonial, and minstrel activity in Great Britain before 1642" (vi). In this case the editor, James Stokes, has gathered together all the records able to be found concerning Somerset, including Bath, whose records were collected by Robert J. Alexander. The next section of the introduction is entitled "The Documents" and is a detailed document description of all the documents from which extracts have been transcribed. The meticulous descriptions are organised in the same manner as the records themselves. Moreover, as all classmarks, as well as a variety of documentary idiosyncrasies, are provided, researchers are well equipped to return to the original documents if they choose. The appendices are followed by translations (by Abigail Ann Young) of almost all of the Latin records in volume one. The translations are well done and save a great deal of time even for those well-versed in Latin. The only possible flaw is the overuse of their symbol "(English)" which is used to denote when the English section of mixed English and Latin documents is exempted; when reading some of the depositions it was highly confusing to look back and forth between the two volumes.

Extractions: JAN While Scottish philosophy of the 18th century is studied extensively, Scottish philosophy in the 19th century is neglected to the point of being virtually unknown. Francis Hutcheson, David Hume and Thomas Reid and are names familiar to almost all philosophers; Sir William Hamilton, James Frederick Ferrier and Alexander Bain to hardly any. Yet in their day, the names of these philosophers were not only prominent in Scotland, but widely known across Europe. To understand this decline in reputation, it is necessary to see 19th century Scottish philosophy against the background of the century that preceded it. According to George Davie there is an Cast in these terms it is easy to place the two most famous philosophers of the Scottish Enlightenment on either side of the divide. On the side of the first is Hume, whose skeptical conclusions arise from the Berkleyan presupposition asserted in the very first sentence of his Treatise of Human Nature All the perceptions of the human mind resolve themselves into two distinct kinds, which I shall call IMPRESSIONS and IDEAS. The difference betwixt these consists in the degrees of force and liveliness with which they strike upon the mind. (Hume 1888: 1)

At that time, New Scotland consisted approximately of the Atlantic Provinces as we know them today, and the Gaspe Peninsula. Sir William Alexander with King James devised a settlement scheme of granting the title "Baronet of Nova Scotia" to any who would purchase large grants of land in New Scotland (Nova Scotia), secure and settle those lands. These Baronets of Nova Scotia received their lands in New Scotland (Nova Scotia) during the ancient ceremony of "Earth and Stone" while standing on a plot of land deemed by imaginative legalese to be part of New Scotland (Nova Scotia). William Alexander, son of Sir William Alexander, brought out settlers to Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, in the late 1620s and established Charles Fort there. When the colony again went back to the French, about three years after their arrival, these Scottish emigrants were required to return to Scotland. See Founding of New Scotland (Nova Scotia) More than a century later, when the French and the English had finished their "tug of war" in claiming Nova Scotia from each other, and the English finally kept it, Scottish emigrants again began to come here. They settled in all parts of Nova Scotia. When the 1871 census was taken, the Scots made up the greater percentage of the population in Colchester, Inverness, Pictou and Victoria Counties. They also settled in large numbers in each of the other counties and became one of the leading groups in developing New Scotland (Nova Scotia).

James Minor Alexander, builder and physician, was born on September 18, 1867, in Spring Hill, Tennessee, to James Franklin and Elizabeth (Minor) Alexander. He attended the Kentucky School of Medicine and graduated with honors in 1889 from Louisville Medical College. Later he did postgraduate work in New York, at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and in 1913 in hospitals in London, Paris, Rome, Naples, and Berlin. In 1889 he moved to Victoria, Texas, then to Abilene, where he started a practice. He opened Alexander Sanitarium, a hospital with eighteen beds, on June 1, 1904, in a two-story frame building. In 1918 he converted the structure into a school for nurses and moved his hospital into an adjacent three-story brick building with forty beds. He was joined in his Abilene practice by his brother, Dr. Sydney McLemore Alexander. Jim Alexander was credited with many medical firsts in West Texas, including the first Caesarean operation and the first two complete hysterectomies. He installed Abilene's first X-ray equipment. He closed his sanitarium in 1934 to join the staff of Hendrick Medical Center, qv where he later became chief of staff. He was a member of the Taylor-Jones County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association
