Descendants of John Cree Generation One 1. John1 Cree was born between 1778 and 1787. No baptism record has ever been found despite exhaustive searches, but the only Cree family we know of that he could belong to is that of James and Mary Cree of Duckmanton. They were married in Duckmanton in 1777 and baptism records for their children only start in 1788. It seems overwhelmingly probable that John was born in this period.[1] He and Anne Spray had their marriage banns published in Jun 1812 at Scarcliffe parish, Derbyshire. :"Banns of marriage between John Cray [sic] of the Parish of Edensor and Ann Spray of the Parish of Scarcliffe were published 14th, 21st and 28th June 1812." We continue to get new members and contributions of research material. How wonderful! I really appreciate knowing how much the newsletter helps you but ask that you take a minute and message the person who contributed the research. The newsletter is alive and well only because the help of everyone! For the benefit of those new members I will repeat how I am handling back issues. I am sending out back issues four at a time. If you want to be on the back issue list you will need to message me. If you want to be taken off the back issue list, you will also need to message me. Once all back issues have been sent out I will start all over repeating the process. Next Friday, April 11th, I will be sending out issues 9 through 12. Questions?

Fall 2000
TTh 10:35 am - 11:50 am
Carpenter Hall, rm. 212 Professor Matthew Guterl
Department of Comparative American Cultures
Office: Wilson Hall 111 Office Phone: 1(509)335-2889 Email: mguterl@mail.wsu.edu Course Description: This course focuses on the historical context that directly informs the legal decision-making process. We'll be looking at the law as an historical artifact, or as a product of its times. Very special attention will be paid to race-to the role that courts play in defining racial identities and in structuring race relations, and also to the role that widely held racial sensibilities play in the making of law.
