Descendants of John Cree Generation One 1. John1 Cree was born between 1778 and 1787. No baptism record has ever been found despite exhaustive searches, but the only Cree family we know of that he could belong to is that of James and Mary Cree of Duckmanton. They were married in Duckmanton in 1777 and baptism records for their children only start in 1788. We'll be looking at the law as an historical artifact, or as a product of its times. Very special attention will be paid to race-to the role that courts play in defining racial identities and in structuring race relations, and also to the role that widely held racial sensibilities play in the making of law.
