(Enter summary) Abstract: This paper introduces the newest version of the SR concurrent programming language and illustrates how it provides support for different execution environments, ranging from shared-memory multiprocessors to distributed systems. SR uses a few well-integrated mechanisms for concurrency to provide flexible, yet efficient, support for parallel and distributed programming. This paper gives several realistic examples to illustrate these language mechanisms. 1. Introduction The SR concurrent... http://sal.kachinatech.com/C/1/SR.html
SR SR (Synchronizing Resources) is a language for writing concurrent programs. The main language constructs are resources and operations. Resources encapsulate processes and variables they share; operations provide the primary mechanism for process interaction. SR provides a novel integration of the mechanisms for invoking and servicing operations. Consequently, all of local and remote procedure call, rendezvous, message passing, dynamic process creation, multicast, and semaphores are supported. SR also supports shared global variables and operations. It has been used in concurrent programming courses to reinforce concepts with small programming projects and with larger projects such as experiments with parallel algorithms, replicated databases, distributed simulations, and parts of distributed operating systems such as file systems and command interpreters. MPI
stands for Message Passing Interface and is the standard for message passing as defined by the MPI-Forum . Message Passing with MPI is the major programming model on large distributed-memory systems in high-performance computing. MPI on the Hitachi SR8000 conforms mostly to the MPI-2 standard. Detailed information about the conformance should be available soon at the MPI imlementation list OpenMP is dedicated to shared memory systems. The High Performance Fortran ( HPF ) is a programming model suitable for data-parallel problems. With Compas, the compiler automatically vectorizes the code by using all CPUs of a node to execute loop in parallel. This page shows optimized commands for compiling and running of applications in 7 parallel and scalar programming models. The first section presents a summary . The next section shows each programming model in detail Cross compilation and parallel compilation may speed up your compilation process. For MPI programs, the green lines in the tables below must be used for cross compilation. The last section discusses debugging, profiling and other options

    S R McAlister Programming
I use Object-Oriented principles and taught O-O programming for two years on The Open University's undergraduate computing course M206 using Smalltalk. I am now using Java. Recent experience has been with Visual Basic and Prolog (a declarative logic language) and (long ago) FORTRAN. Java For my PhD I have created a new interface in Java used for Internet Chat which uses threaded discussion and Talk rooms. This interface uses sentence openers to facilitate good educational argumentation. For my Masters dissertation I completed a fully working prototype of a computer aided learning (CAL) program Statist-ICAL which used a hypertext browser tool with statistical toolbox, data editing and graphing facilities. The purpose was provide students with the opportunity to learn statistical skills in the context of geography. This was trialled successfully by high school students. Visual Basic was used with a DDE link to a Prolog server to enable rules to be evaluated by a meta-tutor. For my Masters degree I wrote a Neural Net application in Visual Basic for constrained modelling systems of time-series which I hope to investigate further. I also wrote a Frame system in Prolog which used a general inference engine and rule language which I had devised.

(52kb) Weemote Sr. - A Weemote for the not-so-wee... After releasing the Weemote, Fobis Technologies discovered something interesting based on their customers’ feedback: the Weemote was apparently working as well for the elderly as it was for small children. With a limited number of uniquely shaped buttons, high contrast design and sure-click operations, the Weemote proved ideal for those who may suffer from memory or vision impairments. Capitalizing on this added finding, Fobis has released a third product in their series of easy-to-use remote controls. Since you’ve already read through the Weemote and Weemote 2 reviews, you’re undoubtedly quite familiar with the basic Weemote concept. Operationally, the Weemote Sr. is identical to the Weemote 2 and supports control of televisions, TV/VCR combo units, cable boxes, satellite receivers and digital video recorders.
