Eleven ships are doing search work on site of the catastrophe of the Tu-154 airliner in the Black sea, reports the press service of the administration of Sochi. The chief public relations officer, Gleb Gutiev, said that at 15:00 an aircraft of the Ministry for Emergencies is planned to fly to the site "for guiding ships to new objects".
Gutiev said that a group of experts, which includes 9 Ukrainian specialists, are studying discovered parts of the Tu-154 fuselage. Upon inspection they can be taken to Moscow for additional examination, he said.

The prospects for oil/gas production on Russia’s continental shelf (approximately 3.9 million km2) are very promising. According to estimates, these resources amount to 60-100 billion tons of hydrocarbons. On the Arctic shelf, oil and gas production is adversely affected by seasonal and an all-year-round ice cover. These conditions require specialized underwater equipment for oil/gas prospecting and extraction. According to experts, all mineral resources and raw materials in the Arctic area are enough to meet the energy needs of the human race for the next 1,000 years. However, to make these resources available it is necessary to promptly solve transportation problems in the areas of the Arctic Ocean, the Bering Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk, since navigation there lasts only 30 days. Most Russian ports in the northern seas can only receive conventional cargo ships 2 or 3 months a year. In addition, the volume of Russian oil exports has recently reached the maximum throughput capacity of ground pipelines. An alternative to surface tankers and ground pipelines could be submarine transport fleet based on converted submarines slated for disposal (under international treaties) or the construction of special submarine transport vessels. A sharp reduction in submarine-building in the 1990s required the conversion of domestic shipbuilding sector to provide for civilian application of submarine technologies with a maximum use of accumulated research and technological potential.
