Instructional Television Programming Highly successful video-streaming pilot program is expanded for the 2002-2003 school year. In addition to delivering K-12 classroom instructional television (ITV) programming via a broadcast signal the Educational Services Department of Channel 36 conducted a video-streaming pilot program last school year with 12 public schools. The pilot program was conducted to explore the possibility of delivering ITV programming “on demand directly into the classroom” via the Internet by utilizing the schools’ computers. As a direct result of that highly successful pilot program, Channel 36 is proud to announce the expansion of the video-streaming program to include about 150 schools for the 2002-2003 school year. If your school is interested in participating in (ITV) video-streaming delivery, please call 222-3636 Ext.# 382 for further details. Each year, The Educational Services Department of Channel 36 produces SCHOOLVUE, the K-12 ITV Programming Guide. Both the MetLife Foundation, supported by MetLife Insurance and Swarovski Consumer Goods Limited believe in the value of this guide and have subsidized the publication and distribution of 11,000 copies to Rhode Island teachers. Thank you, to MetLife Foundation and Swarovski Consumer Goods Limited.

    Background
On June 30, 1995, Governor Lincoln Almond, a Republican, signed the Act to Establish Charter Schools into law. The charter school legislation is relatively weak because it restricts charters to existing public schools that convert to charter status with the approval of two-thirds of their teachers and a majority of parents. All teachers and administrators in a charter school must be certified by the state, and teachers remain employees of the school district.

Grant opportunities that will benefit K-12 schools, educators, and students are posted on these pages. If you find an opportunity that appears to match your project goals, follow the links to the funder's site for more information.
Remember, it is critical that your project matches the funder's guidelines. You will waste both your time and the grant-maker's if you submit a proposal that does not match the grantor's funding initiatives. The SchoolGrants focus is primarily schools within the United States. There are, however, often opportunities available that extend to our Canadian neighbors. Most of such opportunities are found on the Nationwide Opportunities pages.
If you know of opportunities that are not listed on the SchoolGrants site, we would appreciate you letting me know about them! It is the SchoolGrants goal to provide as many opportunities as possible to benefit our Nation's children and their schools. This is only possible with your help and assistance.
