PAUL LAMPERT NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF
GEORGE BROWN THEATRE
While I tend to subscribe to the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' philosophy, I am looking forward to where the Theatre School can go next. The very nature of theatre is hard to define, as it is constantly re-inventing itself. If our graduates are to be on the vanguard of tomorrow's theatre, this School must also have the capacity to change, grow and originate new ideas. We must keep on challenging ourselves and cannot afford to rest on our laurels. Part of the immediate challenge is programming a season of plays for the graduating class. Our season must be entertaining, interesting, diverse and one which presents the students well to the professional community. I feel confident we have such a season. This Fall we will produce two plays in repertory: a great American classic, The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder, directed by Sally Han (Young People's Theatre, Shaw Festival), and from the master of modern drama, Henrik Ibsen, Pillars of Society , directed by Janet Amos (former artistic director, Blyth Festival and Theatre New Brunswick). In December, we will present a play for the entire family
