Niue International Airport (IUE) (Hanan) is 7km (4miles) north of Alofi. Tour buses and taxis are available from the airport to all tourist destinations.

The following items can be imported into Niue by persons 18yrs and older without incurring duty: 200 cigarettes, or 227g of tobacco or 50 cigars, one bottle of spirits. Restricted Imports: Firearms and ammunition are prohibited -Passports are required by all. -Visas are not required by bona fide tourists staying less than 30 days with return or onward tickets and sufficient funds for the length of stay.     From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Niue is a South Seas island commonly known as "Rock of Polynesia". It has strong ties with New Zealand though it is the second smallest (by population) self governing state in the world with about 2,100 inhabitants. Niue is located 2,400 Kilometers north-east of New Zealand in a triangle between Tonga Samoa and the Cook Islands From the CIA World Factbook 2000. Not Wikified. The .nu Internet Domain Niue, through an outside company, sells Internet Domain Names, so most .nu Web addresses are not actually located in Niue. Further details are here

    Wednesday 9th May, 2001
    The appointment of Mr. John Kaulima, Niuean businessman of Auckland as Niue's Honorary Consul to Auckland has been approved by the New Zealand Government and Government of Niue. This follows full official recognition to the appointment by the New Zealand Government for Mr. Kaulima to perform the functions of Honorary Consul for Niue with residence in Auckland. The role of the Honorary Consul is to assist where it can and only a limited budget is available for his services.
    Niue's National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan report submitted jointly by the Department of Community Affairs and Consultant, Mr. David Butler has been accepted and endorsed.
    At the Forum meeting in Kiribati last year, Niue signed the Agreement establishing the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. However, the Government of Niue has just approved the ratification of the Agreement to establish the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. The South Pacific Forum Secretariat is now known as the Pacific Islands Forum.
    Approval has also been given to proceed with the procurement through NZODA of projects submitted by Community Affairs for Women, new equipment for Niue High School including a photocopier, drinking fountain, storeroom for storage of resources amongst other things and power Surge Arrestors for the Niue Power Corporation.
