2002 Annual Report To the Community
Porter County Vocational Education
A Message from
Jon Groth
Vocational Director
for Porter County
Please read our annual report to the community for 2002! This year, we will focus on community service and partnerships. Our success can be traced directly to the partnerships that we have established with employers, advisory committees, and economic and workforce development agencies. These partnerships have supported us in providing quality vocational education programs to the youth of Porter County. Community service has always been an essential part of our curricula. In community service, the community becomes the learning laboratory for our students. During community service our students learn the value of helping others and develop the ability to utilize their vocational skills in real life situations. Vocational education is held accountable, as it should be, to achieving certain quality standards which include the following: vocational students must pass the graduation qualifying exam, they must graduate from high school, and vocational programs must actively recruit nontraditional students and ensure that program graduates matriculate to positive post-secondary placements in advanced education or employment.
