Students of English as a foreign language improve their vocabulary when they read any of the web pages which are in English or write a task or assignment of some interactive web sites. Nevertheless, a good deal of vocabulary acquisition material is carried on the web, either for idioms or for single words, usually included in more general sites. Some of them are highly interactive while others are not, although they are equally practical and efficient. We should not forget, finally, the different dictionaries available on the net.

    The Power Drill Grammar Book
The reproducible, high-energy Power Drill Grammar Book offers 70 lessons on basic grammatical structures, common usage problems, the fundamentals of punctuation, and elementary paragraphing skills. It is intended for use with grammar students in elementary schools and middle schools. There are seven units, and each consists of ten lessons, including a feature lesson called "The Grammar Games." The Power Drill Book aims to combine enjoyment with learning, on the principle that grammar can be the most enjoyable, not the least enjoyable, of a student's (and teacher's!) subjects. What makes The Power Drill Grammar Book unique? It's fun. It's practical. The sample sentences are in step with modern times (computers, video games, etc.). Most importantly, the grammar is simple, clear, up-to-date and it's focussed on students' primary needs: error correction of their writing and speech, and expansion of their range of expression.

Let's Get Down to Business! by Don Burgis Business Expressions and Idioms for The ESL Student Let's Get Down Business is intended for the high level adult ESL student who is interested in a better understanding of the business terminology of American English. Although the book is for advanced learners of American English, it can also be used as a supplemental text for ESL students at the high school and college level.
This book is based upon the author's personal experiences in teaching English to business men and women who are non-native speaker.
Business idioms, jargon and expressions are vitually incomprehensible to learners of English. Many ESL students have spent years studying English their native countries. Although they may have a good knowledge of grammar and basic vocabulary, they hit the proverbial brick wall when confronted with such expressions as big wig, red-eye, bean counter, hype, pick up the tab , etc.
The emphasis of this book is on vocabulary. Knowledge of grammar is assumed. Each unit has a dialogue where the words and expressions are used as they might be in a real business environment. Exercises are provided for learning reinforcement. Additional vocabulary is presented in each unit.

80. Listening Comprehension
In addition to idioms, vocabulary, and topics, Listening Comprehensiontests your understanding of English grammar. ETS assumes
http://www.mba-center.net/listening_comprehension.htm
Listening Comprehension
Listening Comprehension is the first section of the TOEFL. Graded on a scaled score ranging from to 30, it accounts for one-third of your total TOEFL score and is designed to give "an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to understand spoken English." In the lesson following this introduction we will show you that Phineas, the test writer, tests your understanding of spoken English through a limited number of testing points. We will introduce you to these specific testing points and will give you techniques to increase your score. Listening Comprehension is divided into two parts, each of them challenging specific testing points. The best way to explain the challenge on Listening Comprehension is to compare the paper-based and the computer-based tests. The paper-based test was a standard multiple-choice test in which one would listen to short and long conversations as well as lectures and in which one was given 15 seconds after each question to pick an answer. This test was linear and did not adapt to your level. In the good old days the answer choices were in front of you and could be preread to anticipate the context. As of July 1998 the Listening Comprehension changed radically. The section is now adaptive, and multimedia. In addition to a radical change of format the section became adaptive: the computer presents questions of varying difficulty levels, depending on your performance. But more challenging is the change that now the answer choices appear after the dialogue or the lecture is over and the question asked. This change makes Part B, where you have to remember a lot of factual details, extremely challenging even for native English speakers
