General Fund

All undesignated gifts to the Home School Foundation will go into its “General Fund.” Monies in this fund are used to cover the Foundation’s printing costs, give grants to local home school support groups around the country, and support other home-school related causes. Below are some of the past uses of resources from this fund:
  • We have provided assistance to the National Challenged Homeschoolers Association Network (NATHHAN), which is a national organization of parents who home school their special needs children.
  • Through our grant program, we have helped HSLDA discount groups organize lending libraries for those who cannot afford to purchase books, set up various benevolence funds, offer science and CPR classes to home school students, offer scholarships for college and graduation ceremonies, and many other service projects.
  • We have given Gideon Bibles in memory of the deceased husbands of the widows who have applied for the Widows Curriculum Scholarship Fund.
  • The Foundation has supported the work of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA), which works to promote critical thinking and speaking skills among home school students.

You can find quite a complete list of Homeschooling Message Boards on the Web at the Finding Homeschool Support on the Internet site, which has good content that make its obnoxious Geocities advertisements worth putting up with. On the same site you can also find very detailed information about mailing lists Internet Relay Chats , and other on-line discussion opportunities for homeschoolers. Each board or mailing list has its own flavor. Visit a few and decide which one you find the most informative and helpful, and then join in and answer the questions of other participants. Sharing is what on-line discussion is all about.
