Attention Education Editors and Writers
Economics lesson plans which incorporate the latest methodology and up-to-date economic data were released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today for distribution free to all schools.
The plans and accompanying curriculum activities were developed on the theme internal and external stability and will enable teachers and students to put their finger on the economic pulse of the nation answering questions such as:
  • What is the effect of a falling Australian dollar?
  • What has negative growth done to the Consumer Price Index (CPI)?
  • If the economy slows down can we predict future unemployment figures?
  • How do we measure the economic health of Australia?

The lesson plan package pulls together basic economic concepts and describes how key economic indicators are used to measure the economy. Students and teachers of economics gain access to current and relevant data making economics topical and relevant to the reality of present day Australia.
