BBC, Tamale, northern Ghana The authorities in Ghana have arrested two people in connection with the beheading of a prominent northern king earlier this year. The king or "Lion" of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani was killed in gruesome fashion with about 40 others in the town of Yendi in March, in a chieftaincy dispute between two royal clans. The king met a brutal end
He had been on the throne for 28 years. The incident led to the resignation of some prominent people in government and still threatens the peace and security of the northern region of Ghana. The police re-arrested Yidana Sugri and Iddrisu Jahanfo, for their alleged role in the murder of the Dagbon king. A security source told the BBC that the two men were arrested on 8 November in Yendi by police officers from the capital, Accra. They were flown to Accra that same day.

He said: "The project is dear to our hearts and we cannot allow the huge investments made to go waste. We want to see how we can solve problems facing the development of the enclave in order to achieve targets set for the project." Alhaji Mahama, who is also the Chairman of the Gateway Oversight Committee, made the pledge when he paid a familiarisation tour of the Free Zones Area. The World Band and Ghana Government are financing the project estimated at about 45 million dollars to improve facilities at the airports and harbours and organise in-service training for personnel in these institutions and Custom, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS). Thirty-five million dollars of the amount will be used for the provision of infrastructure at the enclave.

Ghana Time and Date Ghana Government Back to Top A president, selected by direct popular election to a four-year term, is head of state and commander in chief of the Ghana armed forces. According to the constitution, the president must be a Ghanaian by birth, must be at least 40 years of age before taking office, and can serve no more than two terms in office. The president appoints a vice president and a Council of Ministers, a cabinet body whose members have different portfolios, or responsibilities, for advising the president on specific national and international issues. A Council of State acts as another advisory body; each of the 10 administrative regions of the country elects a council member, and the president appoints the remaining 15 members.

    59. Comprehensive Development Framework
Information and proposals for ghana to achieve Vision 2020 for development social, structural, human, governance, environmental, economic, and financial. The World Bank Group and the government of ghana.
    http://www.ghanacdf.org.gh
I t is clear to all of us that ownership is essential. Countries must be in the driver's seat and set the course. — James D. Wolfensohn, President,
The World Bank Group The Comprehensive Development Framework takes a holistic approach to development. It seeks a better balance in policymaking by highlighting the interdependence of all elements of development - social, structural, human, governance, environmental, economic, and financial. It emphasizes partnerships among governments, donors, civil society, the private sector, and other development actors. Perhaps most important, the country is in the lead, both "owning" and directing the development agenda, with the Bank and other partners each defining their support for their respective plans. A key aspect of the CDF approach has been the selection of a number of "pilot" countries. This Website is designed to present as a work-in-progress the development of the Comprehensive Development Framework in the Republic of Ghana, one of the leading pilots in this efforts. In this site, you will find documents that describe the overall CDF process, the approach being followed in Ghana, and a wide-range of sector papers developed as the first stage in Ghana's CDF. If you have comments, you can send them to any of the persons listed as contacts in the sector, or in the Government's overview paper. Any general reactions or questions can be sent to CDF@WORLDBANK.ORG.
