    • Philistines invade Canaan
The Bible preserves the only record of Israel's origins and the wanderings of the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, through the land of Canaan. Most scholars place this biblical record at the period called the Middle Bronze Age. The immigration of the Hebrews into Egypt is usually placed between 1700 and 1600 B.C.E. The Egyptians conquest of Canaan and the Hebrew exodus from Egypt into Canaan occurred during the Late Bronze Age (1500 - 1200 B.C.E.). During the final years of the Late Bronze Age, the Philistines invaded Canaan. The Miller Museum Collection contains pottery that illustrates the international influences which characterized the Canaanite cities of about 1500-1400 B.C.E. For instance, the vessel with the tall, chipped neck that is pictured above was made on the island of Cyprus about 1400 B.C.E., used to contain some sort of precious oil and exported to Palestine during that period. A While in Rome, she finds a beautiful young Englishwoman surrounded by a crowd in the Forum, lying unconscious. Prodding with the ferrule of her parasol (her usual procedure for handling difficult men), she takes charge and brings the girl to her hotel. Evelyn Barton-Forbes turns out to be the granddaughter of an earl, who was seduced and abandoned by her Italian drawing master and cast out by respectable society. Amelia briskly adopts her as a travelling companion, and they set off forthwith for Egypt, the land she has most longed to see. Crocodile on the Sandbank Most of the action takes place at the isolated site of Tell el Amarna, the capital of Akhenaten, the pharaoh who established a monotheistic religion, inaugurated a new realistic period in Egyptian art, and was the husband of Nefertiti (and Tutankhamen's father in law). Amelia and Evelyn attach themselves to the Emerson brothers, who are excavating the site; both ladies come to love Egypt, archeology, and perhaps some particular archeologists. Since there are no doctors south of Cairo, Amelia has provided herself with a lot of medical supplies; her expertise has earned her the title "Sitt Hakim", or Lady Doctor, from the Egyptians. Her multifarious skills prove invaluable at the camp on many occasions; and that's before a mummy starts haunting the ancient city.

    72. Under Water Archeology
During the last 7 years the field of underwater archaeology in egypt has witnessedseveral and great activities which led to very important discoveries.
    http://www.sca.gov.eg/projects/body.html
    Underwater Archaeology
"During the last 7 years the field of underwater archaeology in Egypt has witnessed several and great activities which led to very important discoveries. These discoveries led to the scientific concepts concerning the sites where they were discovered."
In Egypt, it was only in 1996 that the Department of Underwater Archaeology (DUA) of the Supreme Council for Antiquities (SCA) was founded, even though the latter has been in existence since the last century. The reasons for the creation of this new department were directly linked to the excavations of the site at the foot of Qaitbay Fort in 1995 and the discoveries of part of the royal quarter in the Eastern Harbour in Alexandria in 1996.
For some, this date marks the beginnings of underwater archaeology in Egypt. For others, the year 1962 is significant, as it was then that a colossal statue of Isis Pharia was lifted from the sea. It would, perhaps, be fairer to go back to 1910 and the work of the French engineer, Gaston Jondet. During the enlargement of Alexandria's western port he happened to notice what may well have been ancient harbour structures may have been.
These structures were situated in the open sea to the north and to the west of the promontory of Ras El-Tin. The ancients had bravely constructed strong breakwaters, which Jondet discovered largely intact, some 400 meters north of the present-day coast. The width on the surface was from twelve to fifteen meters and this thickness meant that they could resist the fiercest storms of the area. The three principal jetties reach some two kilometers in length, which permits us to say that this port stretched westwards to the Abou Bakar rock. Jondet also discovered the remains of a breakwater that closed Anfoushi bay except for an opening, which corresponded to the deepest part of the seabed.

The civilization of Ancient Egypt managed to thrive for over 3,000 years in an arid and desolate portion of Africa.
