The study of Drama is an essential aspect of the development of the whole person, and at Clifton each boy is made fully aware of the importance of becoming a confident and focused communicator.
We are proud of our active and vibrant Music Department. Every boy has the opportunity to play an instrument. Talented boys may become members of the orchestra, choirs, bell ringing groups or ensembles.
The Music and Drama Departments also combine to present evenings when parents are given the chance to enjoy the sparkling performances of our pupils.
CLUBS
Weekly club sessions offer pupils a wide variety of activities which may lead to lifelong hobbies and pursuits. There are regular excursions to places of educational interest, and outings are arranged to concerts, art galleries and museums. Children are frequently involved in programmes focusing on environmental issues, which are seen as a priority at Clifton, and from the earliest years, entrepreneurial skills are developed. In addition, senior boys are afforded the opportunity to develop qualities of leadership and improve their skills in challenging outdoor environments.

TEXAS FEDERATION OF MUSIC CLUBS . The Texas Federation of Music Clubs was designed to establish a center to aid communication and cooperation for Texas musical organizations and to make music an integral part of the civic, social, educational, and religious life of Texas. Although various municipal music clubs were founded in the late nineteenth century, until 1915 they remained independent organizations or were affiliated with the music department of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. qv Prompted by Corsicana's Louise Pace, TFWC Music Department chairperson, and also by members representing the Music Festival Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs, which had been established at Chicago in 1893, the Texas Federation of Music Clubs was organized on November 12, 1915, in Brownwood, Texas, during the annual meeting of the TFWC. For her efforts Pace was offered the presidency, though she declined in order to study music in New York. At her request the office was extended to Lucil Manning Lyons, qv president of the Fort Worth Harmony Club. Twenty-two Texas music clubs composed the nucleus of the new organization, which then joined the National Federation of Music Clubs. Membership was open to all Texas musical organizations, from choral societies and festival associations to music study clubs. Among the original standing committees were Community Music, Public School Music, Contests, Scholarships, and the Artist Bureau for recital scheduling. The new organization held its first annual convention at Waco in May 1916, where the New York Philharmonic Orchestra provided the program. Ima Hogg

Drama
Drama has been an integral part of Maplecrest School since its inception. In the fall, there are junior and senior drama clubs involving students in drama exercises and improv, leading to performances for assemblies. After the holidays, all students are invited to participate in the school musical that performs in early May. Students are involved in the drama, music, set development, costumes, makeup, and technical aspects of the presentation. Past productions have included, Charlotte's Web, Pinocchio, the Lion King, and for the 2002 seasonÂ…Peter Pan! In November of 2001, the Maplecrest Academy Players launched a brand new event in the school calendar - a Dinner Theatre style student production of "Arsenic and Old Lace". Over two evenings, the students served 125 hot, sit-down meals and then treated the assembled audience to a wonderful performance. The event was so successful, plans are underway to make this an annual event. Home Mission History Philosophy ...
