Whether your passion is designing lighting for a one-act play, playing the organ for a local church, singing in a world class choir, acting in a new play by a Southern playwright, singing art songs from around the world, presenting a solo recital on a Steinway concert grand, or any number of performance or creative activities, you will find opportunities for your performing and creative impulses at Millsaps College. Most students come to the Department of Performing Arts because they excel in performance or want to improve their performance. While the Department of Performing Arts offers a balanced curriculum of study in music and theatre that includes both high quality coursework and excellent opportunities for performance, it is performance that forms the core of our activities. Each of the professors in the department is a performer or creative artist who truly understands the demands of performance and wants to help undergraduates develop their own performance abilities.

Professional skills acquired, learnt primarily through formal training in class, are developed in performance. Student performances take place both in workshop and in public, using theatre spaces specially designed to be adaptable to both traditional and innovative work.
The School also aims to provide the students at the Degree level with a far-ranging background, and cultivate an appreciation of the performing arts as a whole, both oriental and occidental.
The School is committed to the development of drama in Hong Kong and to meeting the needs of the local audience. Therefore all its productions are in the local dialect of Cantonese.

US Department of Education, Blue Ribbon School New American High School Daily Bulletin Talk To Our Teachers Counselor's Corner Theatre Season W elcome to the Las Vegas Academy! Several differences exist between the Las Vegas Academy and conventional high schools ( Mission Statement. ) The most significant difference is centered on the bell schedule. Conventional high school have six periods a day spread out over six hours. However, the Academy student spends seven hours a day, attending eight periods. Those extra two periods are called 'blocks', spent in what is known as the student's 'major'. These 'majors' are comparable to college majors- the bulk of the students' studies will concentrate on that subject. In order to attend to Academy, a student must choose and successfully audition for a major. If the student has enough free electives in his schedule (which doesn't often happen until Junior year), he/she may audition for two majors. The audition takes place in several forms. For instance, International Studies majors have to pass to pass a proficiency test, whereas Theatre majors perform two one-minute contrasting monologues. Full information on audition requirements can be found here.
