Al Jarreau back to the top Kevin Ceballo back to the top Shemekia Copeland From the softest soul whisper to a growling, full-throated blues roar, vocalist Shemekia Copeland sings soul deep. Her huge, dynamic voice and vibrant personality shine through every song she tackles. Since the release of her 1998 Alligator debut, "Turn the Heat Up", Copeland has conquered the blues world and beyond. Shemekia's passion for singing, matched with her huge, blast-furnace voice and impeccable timing, give her music the timeless power and foot-stomping urgency of a very few great musicians who have come before her. back to the top Chris Botti back to the top Wayne Shorter Quartet Wayne Shorter's career spans nearly thirty-five years, having crossed paths with many of history's indisputable giants of music. Through his solo career, Shorter helped to redefine the new hybrid of music that borrowed from a variety of forms, from jazz and rock to classical and electronic. With the 1985 release of Atlantis, Wayne Shorter reasserted himself as one of the world's premier composers and performers of progressive music. For many years, Wayne Shorter has succeeded in intermingling the popular and the progressive, proving him one of the most remarkable minds in jazz history. The quality of that juxtaposition has resulted in his reputation as both daring band leader and consummate modernist, and has won him three Grammies. Wayne Shorter has earned these accolades through his incredible ability to improvise for more than four decades, and there is no doubt that he will continue to cultivate it in the future.

Album Liner Notes (excerpt): Surprises abound on this recording. Most surprising is a recent discovered song written by Louis Armstrong but never recorded until now. It has been waiting around for over seventy years and we now have available this early creative effort by the greatest of all jazz performers. In the same vien, this session marks the first commercial recording of "Klondyke Blues" by Yellow Nunez. (It was previously recorded by the Louisiana Five in 1919, but the record company chose not to release it.) The Other composers herein represented were all involved in the early history of jazz in New Orleans. They played with and heard all the original legends (for which they also qualified) of this American musical style.
