Many critics suggest that the media has gone too far, invading the private lives of elected officials and public figures for no better purpose than audience titillation. However, respected scholars also argue the need to maintain freedom of information, even at the cost of individual privacy and traditional standards.

http://www.biotech-info.net/Moi.html
Letter from Kenya President Moi to U.S. President Bill Clinton August 21, 2000
Excellency, I convey to you and to the American people warm greetings. I recall with great pleasure our recent meeting in Washington at the Summit on Africa when we had the opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest. I wish to take this opportunity to write to you on a matter of great interest to my people and country. As you know, Kenya is basically an agricultural country and farming provides the basic needs for our families and communities. Yet in the face of growing population and environmental challenges, current farming methods are proving incapable of meeting our requirements for food security and economic growth. It is therefore imperative that we in Kenya embrace appropriate technologies and policies to transform our agricultural system to become more productive and profitable. It is in this context that we must view the new developments in biotechnology as offering great hope and promise. While the Green Revolution was a remarkable success in Asia it largely bypassed Africa. Today the international community is on the verge of the biotechnology revolution which Africa cannot afford to miss.

  • It was during the Bush administration that the Cold War came to an end. In December of 1988, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev announced the end to the Cold War, began reform in his own country, and removed Soviet troops from Eastern Europe, allowing the countries there to run their own governments. On August 2, 1990 Iraqui troops invaded Kuwait in the Persian Gulf. Kuwait held nearly ten percent of the world’s oil reserves, and Iraq’s president Saddam Hussein wanted to have them. Fearing that Iraq might also attempt to invade Saudi Arabia, thereby gaining control of almost half the world’s oil, President Bush began sending U.S. troops to boost Saudi Arabia’s defense only 6 days after the invasion. In November of 1990, the United Nations Security Council set a January 15, 1991 deadline for Iraqui troop withdrawl from Kuwait. Bush waited seven hours after the deadline for Iraq to withdraw. But when Iraq made no indication of withdrawl, Bush waged war. Six weeks later, troops from the United States and other allied nations overwhelmed the Iraqi army and freed Kuwait. As a result of relaxed federal regulations of the savings and loan industry during President Ronald Reagan ’s term, loan officers often made risky loans. The same individuals also made large campaign contributions to certain senators to avoid federal bank examinations. By 1989 hundreds of billions of dollars had disappeared from government-insured deposits, but little was done since many legislators had taken advantage of these easy campaign contributions.

Biography
Bill Clinton was born William Jefferson Blythe III on August 19, 1946, in the small town of Hope, Arkansas. In 1960, John F. Kennedy was elected President. Two years later, when Bill Clinton was a senior in high school, he was selected to go to Washington, D.C., to be a part of Boys Nation, a special youth leadership conference. The young men of Boys Nation and the young women of Girls Nation were invited to the White House to meet President Kennedy. Bill Clinton was one of the first in line to shake President Kennedy's hand in the Rose Garden. That event was one of the most memorable, important experiences of his youth. After that, he knew he wanted to make a difference in the lives of the people of America by becoming President. Bill Clinton attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. While earning his Bachelor of Science degree in International Affairs he worked as an intern in the office of Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright. There he learned how government worked and what it was like to be a politician. When Bill Clinton finished college in 1968, he won a Rhodes Scholarship, which allows select students to study at Oxford University in England. While at Oxford, he studied government and played rugby. Upon his return to the United States, he began law school at Yale University. He maintained his interest in government by campaigning for a Senate candidate in Connecticut. He also met Hillary Rodham, whom he would later marry.

Hot Springs National Park is proud to have been the boyhood hometown of President Bill Clinton. The world-famous resort city is credited by Mr. Clinton as being responsible for the early educational experiences that led him to a career in public service first as Arkansas Attorney General, then Governor of Arkansas, and ultimately the 42nd President of the United States.
From Hope to Hot Springs
William Jefferson Clinton moved to Hot Springs when he was a second grader from his birthplace in Hope, Arkansas, with his mother, the late Mrs. Virginia Kelley, who was a retired licensed certified registered nurse anesthetist. Young Bill's father, William Jefferson Blythe III, had been killed in an automobile accident before Bill was born, so Virginia Blythe carried the responsibility of raising him as a single mother. Virginia Blythe married Hot Springs native Roger Clinton in 1950, and later Bill took the surname that he carries today. In 1953 the Clintons moved to Hot Springs and Bill enrolled in St. John's Catholic School. Even then the nuns recognized in the boy a spark that led them to predict that he was one day "going to be president."

NIGERIA WELCOMES PRESIDENT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo with U.S. President Bill Clinton The Ambassador of the Federal Republic Nigeria to the United States of America, Professor Jibril Aminu, and the entire staff of the Embassy of the Federal Republic Nigeria, Washington, D.C., join millions of Nigerians the world over in welcoming the President of the United States of America, William Jefferson Clinton, as he undertakes this historic visit to our dear Fatherland. We wish the President and his entourage an enjoyable and successful trip. President Clinton's visit to Nigeria is the greatest manifestation yet of the vast improvements that have been recorded in Nigeria-U.S. relations in the past two years. A little over two years ago, Nigeria was in the grip of suffocating military dictatorship. Since then, however, our country has undergone a remarkable transition and is now one of the foremost budding democracies in Africa. We would like to acknowledge the great contribution made by president Bill Clinton, the goodwill of his Administration and the American people to success of our transition and to the strengthening of democratic rule in Nigeria. The unwavering Commitment shown in the U.S Administration's African policy has clearly created a new era of partnership with Africa in general. We in Nigeria are appreciative of the impact of this partnership in various spheres of our bilateral relations with the United states of America. We note, in particular, the resumption of direct air links between the United States of America and Nigeria; the resumption of OPIC and Ex-Im Bank Programs; the engagement of numerous U.S. government agencies in Nigeria; and above all, increased commercial and economic exchanges between both countries, which will be enhanced by the Africa Growth and opportunity Act.

President of the United States of America
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C. 20500 June 3, 2000 Dear President Clinton, In your last six months as President, I encourage you start a new medical initiative that will have wonderful results and happy consequences long after you and I are gone from this life. I encourage you to start an initiative to test and deploy insulin potentiation therapy (IPT) in the US and the world. IPT is a simple, very safe, and apparently extremely effective medical technique that uses the hormone insulin to make standard drugs work much better, in smaller doses, and usually without any side effects. IPT is a "magic gun" that makes regular drugs into "magic bullets". Reported results include rapid successful treatment of breast, prostate, and lung cancer without surgery, radiation, or side effects. Also five years of relief from arthritic symptoms after just two or three IPT treatments. And rapid and effective treatment of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. And amazing results in treatment of cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological diseases, too.
I think that IPT will eventually be recognized as one of the greatest medical discoveries of all time. On the same high level as antibiotics, anesthesia, and vaccination. I call it "The second discovery of insulin". When it is deployed in the US, the benefits of health care cost savings and improved outcomes for millions of patients will be worth trillions of dollars. Perhaps hundreds of trillions worldwide.
