There are very few other factors which are as predictive of our life expectancy as is our level of cellular glutathione. Glutathione has been called the "master antioxidant", and regulates the actions of lesser antioxidants such as vitamin C, and vitamin E within the body. "We literally cannot survive without this antioxidant," Earl Mindell, R.Ph., Ph.D. "What You Should Know about the Super Antioxidant Miracle" "Without glutathione, other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E cannot do their job adequately to protect your body against disease." Breakthrough in Cell Defense , Allan Somersall, Ph.D., M.D., and Gustavo Bounous, M.D. FRCS(C) "No other antioxidant is as important to overall health as glutathione. It is the regulator and regenerator of immune cells and the most valuable detoxifying agent in the human body. Low levels are associated with hepatic dysfunction, immune dysfunction, cardiac disease, premature aging, and death." The Immune System Cure Glutathione (L-gammaglutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine) is a tri-peptide of the amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid. Glutathione is an antioxidant compound found in living animal and plant tissue. It takes up and gives off hydrogen and is important in cellular respiration. A deficiency of glutathione can cause hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells, leading to anemia) and oxidative stress. Glutathione is essential in intermediary metabolism as a donor of sulfhydryl groups which are essential for the

    POTS and CFS
POTS has been proposed as a mechanism for symptoms of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in a series of adult patients. POTS and CFS may share a common pathophysiology particularly in the young . Recently, a review of patients with delayed orthostatic hypotension (delayed POTS) demonstrated a high degree of association with chronic fatigue. Our preliminary data have shown that POTS physiology underlies orthostatic intolerance in the large majority of adolescents with the chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). In those patients we demonstrated loss of heart rate variability consistent with vagal withdrawal, increased blood pressure variability consistent with enhanced modulation of sympathetic tone, and impaired baroreflex with a phase shift causing wide blood pressure swings uncompensated by compensatory HR changes. Preliminary vascular data suggest that these autonomic findings are associated with changes in arterial and venous properties of the lower limbs during orthostasis causing fluid collection in excess of ordinary "pooling" observed in control patients.

    Common Treatments
... Self Help Strategies Below is a description of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), but because of its substantial symptom overlap with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), it can be viewed as applying to chronic fatigue syndrome patients as well. WHAT IS FIBROMYALGIA SYNDROME? FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendonsthe fibrous tissues in the body. FMS used to be called fibrositis, implying that there was inflammation in the muscles, but research later proved that inflammation did not exist. Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages.

Come in. Welcome to my home.
Glad you could come. Why don't you have a seat in that chair, if you'd like. I'll pour you a cup of tea and we can talk. This is a safe place and you can relax. It can be pretty frustrating out there to say the least. I'm a retired physician. I practiced medicine for 20 years before I got sick. And then I found my learning had just begun. A dysfunctional health care system. Bewildering alternative medicine. Endless mind boggling stuff on the internet. Disability. I've been there. I went to a lot of doctors, but I learned nothing from them about this subject. Doctors are very good at treating acute illnesses like an injury, but they are poorly trained to cope with many chronic illnesses such as this. I started learning from the internet, but it was slow because most of the material was useless and confusing. I was looking for things that would help, and not a lot of theories. Now, after many years of research, I want to offer you what I didn't get, and I think you deserve. A strategy that is clear, to the point, and step by step. One thing that I can tell you for sure, is that everybody is different. There are lot's and lot's of things that can go wrong to make a person sick. So what works for one person may not work for another.

Fibromyalgia and Sleep Deprivation: Pills and Pillows Nicholas Rummell, an FM patient, writes, "For adults with fibromyalgia, pills may or may not help resolve the sleep difficulties that challenge many. For starters, not everyone with fibromyalgia is helped by sleeping pills, prescription or over-the-counter. And in some cases, a sleep medication may help a person fall asleep but then not help them achieve deep, restorative sleep."
Position Paper on Trigger Point Injections [Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain News]
Dr. Reuben S. Ingber writes, "To date, very little is known about trigger point injections - how effective are the treatments, how many injections, which muscle(s) to inject, what corrective maneuvers need to be made after a trigger point injection. The reason for the gap in our knowledge is that very little funding has gone into the research of these treatments, as there is very little financial incentive for anybody to sponsor such research efforts."

The site contains over 200 research publications on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) collected out of different medical journals. The goal of the website is to bring together all recent information on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ).
The site will be updated regularly, at least once a month.
About Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a very mysterious disease and often very hard to diagnose.Until a solid marker is found, the diagnosis to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) is mostly a long way of exclusion. I hope this will change in the near future.
Now lot's of CFS patients are often not taken seriously and neglected because 'the scientists' can't find what's wrong, although we have very serious symptoms and are often disabled to a certain level, sometimes even almost completely bedridden.

CFS is a disease shrouded in mystery and wrapped in controversy and debate. Even now, after ever increasing numbers of people that are coming down with the disease, there are still many doctors and people that do not believe in its existence or believe that it is "all in the head." But after years of research it has been proven that CFS is definitely a physical illness, one that has many varying symptoms and one that effects the lives of each of its victims differently. These pages are intended to give the reader some insight into the disease: what research is going on, what the patient can do for possible treatment, some of the doctors that treat CFS, other places to go for CFS and medical information and even some humor to lighten the burden of this disease. It was founded in 1997 in order to educate the general population and health-care professionals who lack current knowledge of the research being done, and potential research that needs to be done, on these serious, yet invisible, Chronic Immunological and Neurological Disorders (CIND) , which include Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), Gulf War Syndrome (GWS), Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Syndrome (MCS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME, the term used in most of the world) / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, the term used in the United States), Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP), Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS) and related illnesses. It is our goal to promote awareness of these illnesses, and in the process we hope to contribute to the growing body of knowledge about them. Learn more about these 'invisible' illnesses in our pamphlet , which can be downloaded in its actual format with Adobe Reader. If you believe you may have one of these illnesses, seek the assistance of a supportive health-care professional who is familiar with CIND and their treatments.

Fibromyalgia (AKA FMS) originally named fibrositis, is a mysteriously debilitating syndrome that attacks women more often than men. It is not physically damaging to the body in any way, but is characterized by the constant presence of widespread pain that often moves about the body. Fibromyalgia can be so severe that it is often incapacitating.
This website is focused on the disease fibromyalgia and contains information for people who suffer from the disease, their friends and family members. As many people believe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are one in the same, many references will be made to CFS as well as FMS.
Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes pain in muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. The dots in the picture above represent tender points found in Fibromyalgia patients. These points are often the foundation of the doctors diagnosis.
