Joan E. (Larmore) Simms
Education and Military Service
I am a Vietnam Era U. S. Air Force Veteran who served from 1962 to 1966 under the maiden name of Larmore. After completing Basic Training at Lackland (January 1963), I was stationed with the 3201st Air Base Wing WAF Squadron at Eglin AFB, Florida. In 1965 I was selected as the Fire Prevention Queen for the base. My last assignment before receiving a medical discharge was in Air Operations at Eglin. Prior to entry into the Air Force, I graduated from Samuel Ready Girls' School, Baltimore, MD. Before that I attended Wicomico County Public Schools including Nanticoke Elementary School from which my mother had graduated. After discharge from the Air Force, I moved to Towson, Maryland and began attending Johns Hopkins University Summer School. There was a slight 9 month interruption along the way. His link can be found below. Eventually, I graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman's College , Lynchburg, Virginia in 1979.

Within the past couple of years I was diagnosed with TMJ associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Fibromyalgia). I've learned a great deal about these illnesses by visiting the home page of the

ATA Northern Districts is a collective of fully qualified Alexander Teachers who live and work in the local area. Each Teacher has completed a 3 year full-time training course and all of the ATA~ND Teachers are members of AUSTAT - The Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique is a valuable skill that can significantly enhance your wellbeing. It is a proven technique for reducing muscular tension and stress and because of its fundamental premise of mind-body unity it is a powerful tool for self-development. For more information read the articles provided on this site. Private lessons or groups are usual when beginning the work and a set of around ten lessons is recommended to gain a basic understanding of the skillset. However, any skill worth acquiring takes some time, effort and patience and like anything, you can choose to keep learning and improving - and the Alexander Technique can give you the skills to do that for yourself! The chair is a favourite tool used by Alexander Teachers. That's because sitting and standing are very common activities that require a good deal of coordination. Working with ordinary and mundane movements such as this helps us to quickly observe the underlying habits of movement and tension that govern the way we 'use' ourselves. In the Alexander work, observation is critical. You will learn to observe yourself and others in a whole new way. Alexander said about this "The problems that don't exist are the hardest to get rid of"

Magnesium is a must. The diets of all Americans are likely to be deficient........Even a mild deficiency causes sensitiveness to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, insomnia, muscle weakness and cramps in the toes, feet, legs, or fingers. Adelle Davis, writing in Let's Have Healthy Children Read my Magnesium (Mg) is a trace mineral that is known to be required for several hundred different functions in the body. A significant portion of the symptoms of many chronic disorders are identical to symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Studies show many people in the U.S. today do not consume the daily recommended amounts of Mg. A lack of this important nutrient may be a major factor in many common health problems in industrialized countries. How common is chronic fatigue?
Feeling tired is common. One in five men, and one in three women will say they feel tired most of the time. If you work long hours, have family problems, and are suffering from stress, it is quite common to feel tired. However, only a few people really have the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Another name for the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is Myalgic Encephalitis (or ME for short).
Definition of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
    CFS is defined as -
"Severe disabling fatigue which lasts at least 6 months, made worse by minimal physical or mental exertion, and for which there is no adequate medical explanation."
    Criteria for diagnosis
Here are guidelines for diagnosing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
    • A feeling of fatigue (severe tiredness) is the main symptom
    • There is a definite time when it began, and not a lifelong feeling of tiredness

I was in a constant fog, had constant ringing in my ears, sinus problems, pain in the joints, a sore throat, and a persistent jock rash. My body temperature was 97.2°f. I had severe gastrointestinal problems. Sexually, I had little feeling. Today, my energy level is not normal, but it is much closer. The ringing in my ears, pain in the joints and sore throat are a distant memory. My body temperature is much better. It isn't normal yet, but it is getting there.
