Backpacking Bicycling Boating Camping ... Vermont State Parks Bicycling: This is a great way to enjoy Vermont during the warmer months, but the visitor will find cycling here quite different from back home and should prepare ahead. Touring and Mountain Biking are the most popular forms of biking in Vermont, but are not for the faint-of-heart or the ill-equipped. There are also recreational paths and trails for those of us who prefer peddling along a shoreline or on flatter terrain. Our famed Green Mountain National Forest is a great place for Mountain Biking, and you can do so on any of the Forest Roads such as the 14 mile Forest Road #10 which runs between Danby and Landgrove. You can obtain a detailed map of these Forest Roads from the Green Mountain National Forest Ranger District Office covering the area of interest to you. The more experienced, well-equipped, and hearty may choose to cross the Green Mountains on one of the Gap Roads . Don't attempt this your first time out! Please note that under no circumstances are you permitted to bicycle on the hiking trails within the National Forest.

There are many different ways of enjoying the 248,000 hectares (612,500 acres) of the most beautiful countryside and some 600 miles of outstanding coast in the Trust's care.
By far the most popular activity is walking and there is no better way of appreciating the immense variety of landscapes and wildlife conserved by the country's most active environmental charity. But if you have more than just a pair of stout boots there are other forms of recreation to indulge in on or from Trust land.
Fishing
is a traditional activity at many Trust properties and is enjoyed by a large number of people. It is many people's favourite way of renewing their contact with nature and experiencing the benefit of tranquillity.
Sailing and boating
provide excitement and exercise. There are opportunities on some of the Trust's inland waters but mostly these are coastal activities.
Horse riding
is becoming increasingly popular. The Trust welcomes equestrian access on its land, in conjunction with its tenants, where appropriate.
