Appleton and Company, 1887-1889 was the "most-quoted" biographical source for 19th and early 20th America. Appleton's, due to its age, reflects the bias and prejudice of late 19th Century America. The Shield
There are times when I'm behind the curve on what's popular. The Shield is just one example of me being behind the curve. I've now watched the first four episodes (I love DVD) and am greatly enjoying it. If the rest of the episodes in this set are as good as these first four this is easily one of the best shows on television in years. But you probably already knew that.

    Battletech TCG
When this game was released I had a lot of fun playing it. I've been playing with the cards again but I haven't been playing the Battletech TCG . Instead I've been pushing MechWarrior: Dark Age mechs around and playing around with a system to use the two games together. I'm having fun with the idea and as soon as I'm satisfied with the rules I'm writing I'll post them to the site (probably in a few days.) Why am I doing this? I love to combine games. Just one of the things I've always enjoyed doing. Plus it gave me a chance to pull out the box of cards and go through them again. The result of mixing these two games is something I've had brewing in my head for months now and it's nice to see that what I imagined is working almost the way I expected it would.

    Councilman Philip Reed
    8th Councilmanic District
    The Beginning
Philip Reed was born in New York City and raised in Harlem and on the upper west side. He was named for A Philip Randolph, a mentor of his father's and a leader in the fight for worker's rights. From the beginning, the Civil Rights movement dominated Phil's household and his life. Philip Reed's parents encouraged him to become involved and taught him the one ideal that has dominated his life: everyone has a responsibility to fight injustice and intolerance whenever and wherever it is found. Philip began his fight against prejudice by organizing voter registration drives, youth boycotts, and protests with Martin Luther King.
Philip left New York to pursue studies in political science and history at colleges in California and Ohio while supporting himself by working in construction. While in California, Philip became involved in the fight for union representation for farm workers. After college Philip began working for Otis Elevator, first in California, then in New York, where he worked his way up to Senior Sales Representative. Philip continued his commitment to community activism in New York. He became a member of the 24th Precinct Community Council, was appointed to Community Board # 7 by then City Councilmember Carolyn Maloney, and was elected President of the NW Central Park Block Association, where he obtained a desperately needed $300,000 grant to clean up the north end of the park. Philip's involvement in Democratic party politics led him to serve three terms as a Democratic District Leader. Mr. Reed continued to volunteer his time tutoring children after school through the Children's Aid Society.

    Bibliography

    Low Rider
As an ex-used-car salesman who's been caught up in endless seams, Harold Dodge seems like the right kind of man to help his friend Vikki collect on a life insurance policy for her murdered husband.
Piece of cake. Except when Vikki falls under the control of Dash Shaffner, a slippery insurance agent, their quest for the money is detoured into the Port of Los Angeles and into a subculture of gang bangers, chop shop operators and car thieves. And on top of that, Harold's past threatens to catch up with him in the form of two cops who just don't like his style.
