Extractions: Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnole" Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov is considered by many to be the premier Russian composer of the Romantic era in music. Carrying with him the reputation as one of the members of a nationalistic group of composers known as "The Five", Nicolai acheived world-renowned status because of his brilliant orchestral works, as well as his insightful instructions into the creation of this genre of classical music. This piece captures that brilliance in an opus transcribed for one piano with four hands. Originally an orchestrated piece composed in 1887, the melodies weave around Spanish dance themes and will be, as it has always been, a thrilling audience pleaser. 42 pages, $10.95, SuperDuperItem 1701555 This Book Contains These SuperDuperSongs Capriccio Espagnole - From: "Opus 34" - Written by: Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov This music book is arranged for Piano Duet. Extractions: The Story William Tell is the last of Rossini's 40 operas. The opera was created from a German Play about an Austrian governor who received a new hat. He thought the hat was so splendid that he put it on a post and made everyone who passed it bow to the hat. William Tell was a Swiss patriot who was traveling with his son and walked by the hat without bowing. He was arrested. The governor realized that Tell's young son needed his father's care. So, the governor told Tell that he could gain his freedom if he would shoot an apple from his son's head with his bow and arrow. The governor gave Tell two arrows and the first attempt missed by going wide. With the second arrow, William Tell shot through the apple and he and his son were free to continue their travels.
