   Extractions: Konzertmeister, beginning in 1759, he directed operas and concerts. The poet Johann Gottfried Herder arrived at the court in 1771, and for the next five years Bach collaborated with him on cantatas and oratorios ( Die Kindheit Jesu and Die Auferweckung Lazarus ) and on the opera Brutus (music lost). He also composed twenty symphonies, six keyboard concertos, solo keyboard music, and many chamber works. Juni in Leipzig 26. Januar ist ein deutscher Musiker und Komponist. Er war der zweitjüngste Sohn von Johann Sebastian Bach , besuchte die Thomasschule in Leipzig und studierte Rechtswissenschaften. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters wurde er Mitglied und später Konzertmeister der Bückeburger Hofkapelle . Eine engere Freundschaft verband ihn mit Johann Gottfried Herder , der für ihn einige Texte für Kantaten schrieb.

Im Vergleich zu seinen Brüdern verlief Johann Christoph Friedrichs Leben relativ ereignislos, ja fast monoton. Geboren wurde er am 21. Juni 1732 in Leipzig, gestorben ist er am 26. Januar 1795 in Bückeburg, wo er seit seinem 17. Lebensjahr in Diensten der Grafen zu Schaumburg-Lippe gestanden hat, daher auch sein Beiname: »Bückeburger« Bach. Und sonst? Sonst war das Leben Johann Christoph Friedrichs relativ arm an äußeren Ereignissen. Von 1749 bis zu seinem Tod harrte er fast ein halbes Jahrhundert in der bückeburgischen Provinz aus, fernab von den Musikzentren der Welt, in denen sich seine Brüder tummelten, und weit entfernt davon, auch nur annähernd deren Bekanntheitsgrad zu erreichen. Anläßlich einer dreimonatigen Reise nach England, wo er seinen Bruder Johann Christian besuchte und ihm seinen 19jährigen Sohn Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst zur musikalischen Erziehung anvertraute, entfernte er sich das einzige Mal von seiner Heimat. Nicht zuletzt sein rechtschaffener Lebenswandel trug ihm auch den Ruf eines »soliden Charakters und braven Tonkünstlers« ein. Seine wesentlichen Charakterzüge sollen »Güte des Herzens, Rechtschaffenheit der Gesinnungen und zuvorkommende Gefälligkeit« gewesen sein.
