Book Description
It is Winter Carnival time in beautiful Quebec City. The Screech Owls are in town to join in the winter fun and take part in the biggest hockey tournament on earth: the famous Quebec Peewee Invitational. This is where Guy Lafleur, Wayne Gretzky, and Mario Lemieux first showed the world their incredible talents – and now it’s the turn of Travis, Nish, Sarah, and their friends.

But the dream trip soon turns into a nightmare. Travis is asked to keep a diary that will be published in one of the big daily newspapers – and a terrible misunderstanding follows. Soon after Travis’s words appear in print, the crowds are booing the Screech Owls, and someone – no one knows who – begins a campaign of terror against the team.

The Owls know they are good enough to make it to the final. Sarah could even equal a tournament record set by the great Guy Lafleur! But if the Owls are to stand any chance at all, they must find out who is trying to destroy them.

The Quebec City Crisis is the seventh book in the Screech Owls Series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quebec Rocks! I just don't get the hockey...
Quebec City Crisis was a book that I enjoyed, even though I do not like hockey. I rate it four stars because, being a non-hockey player, I do NOT get the hockey games they play. Roy MacGregor forges books that are both mystery and hockey.
I have read Mystery in Lake Placid, The Night they stole the Stanley Cup, Terror in Florida, Ghost Of the Stanley Cup, and Sudden Death in New York City. Same thing, all good books, yet all uncomprehensible hockey games. My favourite character was Bart Lundrigan, the mysterious newspaper person.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book Again In This Series
The tounrament where some famous hockey stars like Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur and Wayne Gretzky first showed the world their talents. Now it is time for the Screech Owls to do the same. The dream trip turns into a nightmare. Travis is asked by a newspaper to keep a diary and someone sabotoged it. The fans start booing them and the Screech Owls must find a way to find the culprit. Will they find him in time?

5-0 out of 5 stars I think......
I think this book is excellent, i have read all the screech owl books in order up to this one, except i read Nightmare in Nagano before this cuz that wuz the only one my friends had that i had cuz we had to do a report. I haven't finished the book yet but i will be finished the book at the end of the month. I love Roys books and i absolutly adore the way he describes the hockey games that the Owls play (i play hockey in real life). I love the way roy has hockey and mystery genre into one book and how all of his mysterys actually make sense after all the hockey games and investigations. I love the mysterys and i plan to read the rest of the owls books (even if i can't keep up with the pace they are being made). Thanks roy for the many great books! Keep reading and never stop writing all those books that i adore soo much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quebec City Crisis
A great book! It's suspenseful and fun to read about when the Screech Owls, a 12 year old traveling hockey team, travels to Quebec City for a hockey tournament. They didn't know it, but there would be trouble ahead. This mystery is a great book for both fans and players. I play hockey and find this series to be very addicting. You won't be able to put this book down. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a help to me.
I had this book along with the Lonely Planet guide to Montreal.I found that the Lonely Planet guide to Montreal had better information on Quebec City than this book did.

It may be that this book is just not designed for people like me, but I just did not find this book useful.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mis- information
We were disappointed in the inaccuracies in the information regarding Quebec City. The listing for the Auberge St. Antoine indicated two levels of parking (valet and self park); in fact the hotel only offers valet parking and for considerably less than listed in the book. The hours for at least one of the tourist attractions were not correct. The biking information does not include the nice trail in Levis accross the St. Lawrence and accessible by ferry (no car required); instead, the book sends you to an island that requires a car and does not have traffic free paths.

3-0 out of 5 stars Traveling to Quebec? Don't forget your guide.
As many Frommer's traveling books, this one will help the reader to get along the city and take advantage of his travel. Having this book handy in your backpack will make your walking tours, dinning and staying a truly unforgettable experience. It is amazing how it describes to the detail many places that no other way you would consider visiting. Even though Frommer's is a guarantee istelf, consider buying a better city map to get along, since the one in the book is a little confusing and incomplete.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great help in enjoying two wonderful Canadian cities
In preparing for a trip to Montreal and Quebec, I was pleasantly surprised to find a book that covered both cities. It was easy to read and findspecific information. The different maps were very helpful while walkingaround both cities -- although I used actual road maps for drivingdirections.Keeping in mind that having two cities means less informationabout each -- I found the information was the right amount to help us makeimportant decisions or ask the right questions when we made reservations. It certainly will help you find the "must see" spots as itprovides recommendations for a one-, two- or three-day visit.I often readthe short description of a site aloud before we visited. We changed ourhotel reservations based on the book.As a result, we saved $10 per night(which more than paid for the book) and got free meals for the children --a huge savings over three days. Bottomline -- a good, easy-to-use book withvaluable information -- especially for first or second time visitors.

4-0 out of 5 stars Frommer's Montreal & Quebec City
Good overall book. It is very accurate and a good starting point for a new traveller to the city. The only problem w/ a book like Frommer's is that 10,000 other people have the same book. You tend to see the same kind ofcrowd if you follow thier recommendations as the people who buy the book.Nevertheless, it is a very good informative guide for what it is and shouldbe bought by any 1st time visiter to Montreal and Quebec. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars montreal and quebec city colourguide
Very informative, I am from this area and loved the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good overview
I thought this book was quite appropriate for my travel to Montreal and Quebec City. It describes in sections of what to see and do at Montreal and Quebec City. It also gives the reader information on some of the excursions one can undertake while in these areas. However, this book is best used in conjunction with a detailed map as it doesn't not tell the read how to get to the places it describes (e.x. while Montmorency and Orleans are indeed 5 minutes East of Quebec City, it doesn't tell you how to get there). Overall, if you are only staying in each city for 1-2 days though, this is a great book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't have good maps
This book is colorful which is good. However, I am surprised by the fact that it doesn't provide good maps. It has brief regional maps and some area maps. However, I couldn't find most routes and attractions in the maps. Those routes are mentioned in its introduction of area attractions. The other surprising fact is that it doesn't have a subway map.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of information poorly organized, leave it at home when you travel
This travel guide is organized as follows:
1/ The first few pages are simple maps but they won't be of much help if you actually try to use them to navigate Montreal/Quebec.
2/ 100+ pages of text with full-color pictures detailing what to see or do in Montreal/Quebec, a section is dedicated to each city and sub-sections for areas of interest in each city, like the old port area in Montreal.
3/ the book calls it the "Listings" section, it has travel tips, lists of hotels, restaurants, places to shop, etc. (b&w, no pictures, each page divided into 2 columns, looks kind of like phone book listings)

This tour guide does an excellent job of including almost every spot that a tourist might be interested in, accompanied by colorful photos, the problem is a reader often have to scan through whole paragraphs of text to find specific information he/she is looking for. For example, when scanning through the guide a photo of a restaurant caught my eye and I would like to find information about that restaurant, often I would have to scan through the whole paragraph to find the line describing the restaurant, and when I need the address/contact information I'll have to flip to the listing section. Another problem is without a map a street address is not very useful.

If you allow yourself plenty of time to prepare for the trip you might as well get this book, read through it to determine what places you want to visit/restaurants you want to dine in; and then do the preparation work to find out the opening hours/contact information/address etc. But if you just want to hop on to a plane to Montreal/Quebec and roam around, this tour guide is not for you. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Good for the listings, not for the "in-depth" coverage
I was quite disappointed by this Frommer's, I have used their series on numerous trips abroad and have found them quite informative. Being from Montreal, I found the initial section on Quebec history and culture very inaccurate and biased against the French-speaking majority. Now I question the accuracy of all the cultural information I read in the other books I bought. I give it 4 stars for the section on what "to do" and 1 star on the section aiming at educating readers on the culture and history of the place they are going to visit. The books recommended will probably give the reader an even more negative view of the French majority, none of which are written by the latter. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Student's Review of Fodor's Montreal
Fodor's guide to Montreal and Quebec City was a fairly good tour guide book. The maps were easy to use and understand. Rather than having one large map, they're were 4 mini-maps of the places in Montreal to visit, making it effecient to travel. The map of the Metro system was also appreciated. All tour sites listed included was Metro line to take and where to get off. The guide was thorough and covered ALL tourist sites in Montreal. The only thing lacking in the guide was the amount of inexpensive restaurants listed, as well some admission prices were not correct. Overall a very good book for the first time traveller. Highly recommended. ... Read more
