With it, the need for more dependable and flexible control software grows. iCon-L meets the demanding needs of today's automation. Graphical representation of complex systems has become very popular in many areas. The high level of abstraction of the graphical blocks allows a better understanding of the entire system. It allows early detection of system errors as well as removing the possibility of coding errors. All of this gives a solid foundation for a reliable control system. However, the cost for a machine specific graphical programming system is very prohibitive. iCon-L gives an alternative. iCon-L is a target hardware independent graphical language targeted at giving fast, cost effective solutions for many different automation systems. iCon-L combines development, test and simulation with actual real time control of the target system. This gives a level of productivity and reliability far beyond what has been available before. It also drastically reduces cost and overall learning time. iCon-L is a graphical, object oriented, open programming system and soft PLC combined. How do You Use iCon-L iCon-L is a graphical programming and control system. Programming is done in a Windows(TM) environment on a PC. Graphical function blocks are placed in the different program levels and combined to form the user program. A function block can represent from simple I/O to a complex control algorithm or even a graphical display. Function blocks are placed in the program as the user desires. The blocks are connected together with 'wires' to form the program. Knowledge of classical programming techniques is not needed. Existing programs or subroutines can be easily tailored to meet changed specifications or be put into new functions.
