5-0 out of 5 stars The Integrator for the Business of Integrative Healthcare
Integrating Complementary Medicine into Health Systems, a 725-page ASPEN PUBLICATIONS text, is a remarkable compilation of strategies, articles, how-to, and opinion which should prove to be the enduring core text for CAM integrators and would-be integrators. This definitive work is a labor of love from editor NANCY FAASS, who managed to bring between two covers exceptional information from diverse, hands-on workers who are all leaders in the multi-stakeholder, integration undertaking - from research to coding, from network-based CAM coverage to hospital-based CAM delivery, from present utilization to a vision of optimal placement in a patient-centered system. For newcomers, Faass wisely includes a half-dozen sections on leading CAM modalities. But even for seasoned old-timers in CAM, this volume will be repeatedly pulled off the shelf as a valuable resource. Among the contributors are long-time integrators like Roger Jahnke, Wayne Jonas, Marty Rossman, Sita Ananth, Debra Canfield, Tracy Gaudet, William Stewart, Chuck Si mpson, Andrew Weil, Eileen Stretch, Karen Hohenstein, Laura Patton, Dean Ornish, Carlo Calabrese, Deborah Grandinetti, Jeffrey Bland, Michael Cohen, Linda Bedell-Logan, John Weeks, Melinna Gianinni, Christopher Foley, Marla Orth, Mary Jo Kreitzer, Tom Trompeter, and many more. In total: 67 chapters, encompassing a total of over 130 distinct contributions. Buy this one. $125.

3-0 out of 5 stars Here goes...
I was looking forward to reading this book very much. The premise of the book is probably overdue when it comes to mainstream medicine. The thought process that our overall health is affected by more than one "realm" is, in my opinion, common sense that is rarely found without prejudice in the medical field.

Unfortunately, the writing style completely overwhelms the message of the book.I found myself carrying a notepad with me so I could paraphrase or write down questions I had regarding the section I was reading.

Good points to note:
Opinions are backed up with data and statistics, not more opinions.
The author does not assume you are stupid.

Negative points to note:
Difficult to read.
The book jumps back and forth from relating facts to pontification.

In all, if you understand in advance that this book requires a high concentration level and an open mind, it can be a great platform to learn more about health, diagnostics, and help you direct your health care better.Keep in mind this is NOT a workbook. Even if you don't agree with the premise it will convince you to question others more.In my opinion, that's a definite positive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally...Solutions For Better Health and Wellbeing!
Amazingly easy REAL common sense solutions to help yourself to better health effectively and efficiently in as little as 60-90 days. Dr. D. is WAY ahead of his time in providing the tools you need to finally FEEL GREAT. Beyond Medicine is for anyone interested in improving the quality of their life or know someone else who is...
I wish I had known about this years ago!

5-0 out of 5 stars Miraculous Technique
Dr. DiCenso has a miraculous proven technique that gives hope and help to many suffering from physical and emotional pain. The book explains constant negative thinking patterns need to drastically and immediately change and physical symptoms will change as well. These negative thought patterns are the Vicious Cycle Disorder where your own thoughts continually keep your physical symptoms alive and well.Dr. DiCenso gives a unique and successful way of changing this merry-go-round of negativity and suffering. This amazing process begins with the Matrix Assessment Profile and it offers a way to rid the constant pain and find a new positive lifestyle. He combines basic healthy everyday elements with a way to change the aggravating, twirling, self-defeating thoughts. This book is a necessity for everyone to understand the concept that we can improve and grow in a positive direction and release all of our pain into the past.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beyond Medicine Exploring a New Way of Thinking
Dr. Richard Dicenso has written a very thought provoking book that explores healing and illness from a truly holistic model. His perspective encompasses not only the physical manifestations of imbalance, but also the too often ignored realms of emotion, consciousness and spirit. This is a book that you will want to read more than once because it is filled with wisdom and insight.I found this book very inspiring and a source of hope as well as practical guidance for all those seeking to achieve balance and wellness in their lives. Dr. Dicenso's book is one of the best books on healing that I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't settle for an alleviation of symptoms: Go for the Cure.
Beyond Medicine is THE BOOK for our times and especially for the doctors and patients of the USA who have been brought up to believe that fixing illness is no more sophisticated than treating symptoms much as "Click and Clack the Tapet Brothers" might listen to the symptoms of a dysfunctional car and come up with a diagnosis on their National Public Radio program. It is vindication for all of those suffering from symptoms for which there seems to be no overt cause. It affirms the incredible complexity and mystery that is the human experience and gives hope to sufferers by outlining a matrix of considerations and activities that may treat the causes of disease instead of merely addressing the complaints. If you are interested in health, either yours or others, this book is a must read.

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book
This book blends medical explanation with a fair opinion of natural remedies. It offers clarification on which non-traditional treatments are likely to work and which aren't. An excellent resource!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for open-minded healthcare practitioners!
I think this is a wonderful books and I really like the openminded approach of the author regarding a happy medium between holistic treatments and conventional ones. I do have to disagree with the other reviewer though because I do believe that this book could be easily read by the layperson. I also like that the Dr. explores the realm of oral health and the mind-body connection in diagnosing and treating GI problems. These are oft neglected areas that need to be adressed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, intelligent book
One of the better books I have read.He is not a true believer in either the conventional or the alternative approach, but rather deals intelligently with each.He obviously understands both research and diagnosis.

The book is not an easy read for the layperson, but that is because digestive health is not simplistic.Anyone who has had trouble getting an accurate diagnosis for digestive problems will know what I mean!Worth a careful read. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Product Description
Body-Soul-Spirit explores the relationship between these components of life, their interaction, independence and interdependence. These are the most important queries which have occupied the human mind throughout the history of the species. The renewed interest in the relationship of the soul, body and spirit in our contemporary life suggests a widening trend to view the three as an inseparable unit. The resulting findings are the foundation of holistic therapeutic practice, which treats the human being as a whole. The author believes this material is timely and relevant to present-day medical thinking, teaching and healing processes.

The Body-Soul-Brain-Mind-Spirit interaction is a frequent topic for the popular and secular press, magazines, newspapers, lecturers, healers and the religious faithful. Major medical schools have introduced courses on spirituality and holistic practices. The general public in ever-growing numbers seeks alternate approaches to health outside of medical and pharmaceutical interventions.

In an unprecedented unique way, the author explores the relationship between body, soul, mind, spirit and intellect in mythology, philosophy, science and practice through a collection of dialogues, in poetry and prose. His analysis concludes that all these elements of humans perform as a unified, integrated system.

Dr Dziemidko describes the western scientific explanation of all matter as energy in terms of modern physics, and relates this to the ancient Eastern understanding of energy bodies, including the meridians of acupuncture and the chakras of yoga. 4-0 out of 5 stars Metaphysical approach to healing addiction
Studies have shown that alcohol and sugar strongly affect the heart chakra - the auric center which regulates loving connections. Initially, these substances fill a void there, but addiction ultimately damages and shuts down this vital link to giving and receiving love. Likewise, living with an alcoholic stresses the heart chakra. It forces the children's heart chakras open prematurely, at a time when the focus should be on solar plexus development (self-esteem). Thus, adult children of alcoholics are especially prone to alcohol and sugar dependency andcodependent relationships with addicted people. A metaphysical approach to working with addictions ... Human beings are unities. Body and mind are inextricably integrated. Everything that happens to the mind is expressed in the body and vice versa. Somewhere we lost this knowledge. The Chinese knew it when they established acupuncture 3000 years ago. This book is an attempt to illustrate the inadequacy of dualistic ideas. Evy, the main character, undergoes a remarkable rebirth in a very short time, through the recognition of her essential unity. By working carefully and deeply with both her mind and her body, childhood problems and physical deficiencies are greatly alleviated. ... Read more
