5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This is a great devotional. It changed the way I look at life.God's grace is a wonderful thing and it is great to learn to live in it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn to be a Woman of Grace
Another excellent book in Cynthia Heald's "Becoming a Woman of..." series.

Helpful for both new beginners in Bible study as well as those who have had more experience, and useful for both individual as well as group study.

The format keeps the individual/group interested, it is a good combination of looking up Bible verses and reading well-chosen quotes/commentary selections. Also, it is not simply a book for amassing more knowledge, but you are challenged to apply what you are learning.

If you want to learn more about God's grace and how His grace helps you to become a woman of grace, this is the book/Bible study for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Find!
This is the first book by Cynthia Heald that I have ever purchased, and I am hooked! It is the absolute best Bible study/devotional I have ever purchased. You are prompted to read short excerpts from the Bible and are then given questions from the author that allow you to reflect on what you have read. There is space provided for comments, as well as additional empty "notes" pages in the back.I am a very hands on learner so this format is great for me.Although, I am a daily Bible reader, this study has really helped me to grasp the power and awe of God's grace.I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful set of books!!!
Cynthia's Heald's books "Becoming a woman of..." books are excellent for any woman, whether you are just starting to read the Bible or have read it 10 times.Cynthia's writing style was truly impressive to me.Each chapter starts with a reflective Bible verse and an exerpt from a Christian author or speaker. Then it gives you three or four different verses to look up in the Bible, sections to write your notes, and then a section with the Author's reflection on the concept of the chapter. The chapters increase in complexity, each more challenging as you go on through the book.I bought them all at once, along with "Loving Your Husband" which is also in this Bible study format.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Becoming a Woman of Grace was a wonderful study! It went back to the basics of christianity by defining the purpose of the law (10 commandments) and the purpose and reason for grace! I have always been impressed withCynthia Healds books... they provide a great format for getting into theword and really learning what it means to be a better woman for Christ! ... Read more

Teachers Are The Key To A Better Tomorrow And Brighter Children

Education and teachers build the foundation of any civilization.

How a society operates is directly related to how well a society is educated.

Teachers help shape the world of tomorrow.

Good education will mean a brighter future.

But poor education can spell disaster for any nation.

That's why it so important that we do our best to educate our country's future.

And in order to do that we need teachers performing at their best.

Lesson plans allow teachers to be the best teachers they can possibly be.

Many people have a great gift, and can easily get away with little to no planning.

But do you really want to hang the future of your country on your charisma?

You can still be brilliantly talented, and do a little planning.

In fact, a little planning could multiply your effectiveness!

But but many teachers just don't know how to start the process...

Lesson Plans Allow You To Effectively Transfer What You Know To The Leaders Of Tomorrow

There are a lot of different ways of going about teaching.

And each one can be benefited with a plan.

A lesson plan allows you to organize your thoughts to make sure they are explained clearly.

They allow you to come up with illustrations and activities that can help your students learn more effectively.

They also allow you to sharpen your teaching sword by improving upon what worked and what didn't.

Instead of getting in front of a class with little or no planning...

You get to bring your very best game possible.

Your students will notice the difference, and so will you.

Not only will they test higher, but they'll enjoy the process as well.

Its all too easy to tell when teachers haven't prepared, and it makes students want to disengage from class.

But when you prepare, you bring the very best you have...

Your students are more likely to be engaged, and you feel great about what you've done.

And there's nothing like ending the day feeling like you've made a difference.

Teach Your Best Lesson Ever With These Simple Yet Powerful Tips

If you don't really know how to make a lesson plan, you could be short handing your students and yourself.

And it's so easy to make a lesson plan...

But many teachers just don't know the basics of lesson planning.

That's why I've written this book, Introduction To Lesson Plans. I want everyone to know what I've learned about lesson plans without all the trouble of trying to figure it out themselves.

Lesson plans can take your classroom to another level.

Do you really want to live in the dark about how to make a great lesson plan?

This is more akin to an article rather than a book. While the information presented may be helpful to someone unfamiliar with lesson plans it is not for those with even minor experience preparing lesson plans. There are numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes throughout the work. The formatting for example lesson plans is incorrect and does not display correctly. This renders the last 40% of the article unusable. This is a very poor source and should be passed over.It is not worth the purchase price. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Chock Full of Good Information
I can't give this 5 stars (and am tempted to give it three) because of some weak points with regard to theory, serious need of editing with regard to readability and conciseness, arguments that wander, problems of tangential points left unsubstantiated that contradict major arguments of the given chapter and, as Rutland is prone to say, "such like"... but it is very strong in the area of information.

Rutland attempts too much, I think. He seems not quite to have grasped the major theoretical contributions of Hayek or Kornai (although he does quote especially Hayek often). He explores questions that they proposed answers to without citing them in that context and he spends a lot of time on many lesser known theorists along the way - some of whom seem only tangentially interesting. He cites Nove but doesn't seem to grasp the full implications of the detail Nove provides on organizational structure in the Soviet Union and its problems (with regard to incentives, prices and cost, targets, etc).So he misses out that major contribution to theory from an empirical angle.

I worry that perhaps Rutland spent too long reading broadly on the subject rather than studying the major problems and major thinkers, absorbing them and then framing his idea of the "plan as myth" and "myth of planning" with that framework in mind.Yet he did introduce other thinkers, just not the ones I would expect. He ignores many other major theoretical figures. He barely touches on Lange, skips other socialist calculation debate figures on both sides and misses public choice and complex system theorists and contributors like Don Lavoie.

It is also possible that he felt obliged to cover those thinkers and angles and also to try to take a moderate position (not too pro-market or too pro-planning) rather than taking a strong position or focusing on themajor contributions.

As an example, take the question of whether planning necessitates totalitarianism. This is a critical question and as far as theory goes, could be a major point in the book.I have no problem with it if his answer was that it doesn't.However, the way that he dismisses the theory proposed in Hayek's Road to Serfdom as obviously wrong concerned me.

As in other points in the book he offered one counterexample and dismissed a major theory in one sentence (while spending nearly an entire chapter each on practically unknown theorists). And his counterexample was Yugoslavia, despite the fact that after Tito - when Yugoslavia became much less totalitarian - it was also much less planned.Arguably the example supports Hayek's thesis rather than refuting it.

OK.I have spent this entire review criticizing the book- so why 4 stars?Well, it is worth taking the time to criticize because it was also worth reading to the end. There are copious footnotes and it does cover a broad spectrum of thought and many various angles on its subject- central planning. It focuses on the Soviet Union, but other than that is not very narrowly focused. As pointed out this is a problem in many ways, but it is also a strength. It is hard to point out how except that it does give one a lot to think about and a lot that will stay, brew and percolate.

Despite all its faults, I do recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars In a Word, Wonderful
Make no mistake, this is a tremendous teaching resource. As a busy teacher I have little time to prepare such material. There are numerous exercises to be found in this teaching packet, all of which are relevantto a higher understanding of the novel. Kristen Bowers should be commended for her work at Secondary Sources. I forsee great things for the company.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best I've seen!
This guide is really helpful. The Great Gatsby is such a tough book to teach and I have struggled to teach the novel without good materials.I have made up quizzes and tests for the novel that don't come anywhere close to these.Plus, the vocabulary reinforcement with worksheets throughout that give the students extra practice with test-taking skills is great!I cannot wait to start the year anew. ...
