I felt this man's dislike of the medical field from page one and I will not allow another's negative and personal feelings challenge my success.Thank goodness I did treatment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hepatitis C Free: Alternative Medicine VS, The Drug Industry, The People Speak

This is a carefully, thought-out book about Lloyd Wright's personal experiences with traditional health care and the system which runs it, while coping with diagnosis and finding a successful strategy in management of Hepatitis Type C.

Through, "Hepatitis C Free: Alternative Medicine VS, The Drug Industry, The People Speak ," Lloyd offers a mini-compendium, discussing natural products as remedies for all kinds of related disorders that we can actually beat, including those diseases considered incurable, and at best barely manageable, if not inevitably fatal.

Although Lloyd critiques the system, he takes the high road through his commedic perspective on the irony of errors within our flawed health care system, a current political debate-discussion in all forums.

This book should not be viewed as an act of defiance against traditional health care, but as a gesture in affirming how to find and utilize the best both traditional and non-traditional medicine have to offer -- as a mainstay, and not a last resort.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Info!
This book takes some of the fear out of Liver Disease and it's treatment options. Well written and let's the patient know there are other ways to deal with an illness when the medical people tell you there's nothing they can do for you if you don't respond to their tx. People share their experiences with Hep C.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please, Please don't do this
Please don't kill yourself and follow this book.I have 2 adoptive daughters who have Hep B.One has a Hep D co-infection and is following the Hep C treatment which is interferon.Interferon cures about 70% of Hep C patients, so you do have treatment options.Milk thistle and other herbs just don't do anything, no matter what this quack says. There is no conspiracy.Hep C like all chronic hepatitis cases has a spontaneous cure rate meaning the body will cure the virus by itself.Nothing in this book changes the spontaneous cure rate.So there is lots of anecdotal evidence of cures but these "cures" are just not caused by anything this book recommends.

I know a diagnosis of Hepatitis is a scary thing. There are some great books on living with Hepatitis and managing the condition, this is not one of them.See your doctor, follow her advice, eat right, get some exercise, enjoy life, and do not buy this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars This will help you make up your mind to take the plunge
This book should really only be read after reading "Triumph over Hepatitis C" as it is backing up the effectiveness of the program for getting rid of the virus. Anyone embarking on a cure from someone claiming that it really does work will want some sort of evidence. This book contains evidence that it has worked. Of course, it could be all made up, but then it can be proved as Lloyd Wright will have them on file and could be prosecuted if it were all lies. Obviously, this book on its own should not be taken as proof, but anybody serious enough about ridding themselvs of this virus will also look though his webssite and listen to the podcasts of radio interviews with him. After this you will have questions which he is ready to answer by email. I have done all this and will be starting his program 5. I have only given it four stars instead of five as I have been requested to review this book by Amazonbefore doing the program. If the request was after doing the program I could give a more accurate rating, but for now it has given me more information to make the decision to do the program and that is mainly why anyone would obtain the book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great read
I found this book captivating. Once I started it I could not put it down. I got so much information that stuck in my head because of the way it was written so true to life. Doctor Sylvestri and Christopher Lawford made me feel like I was right there with them. While I have read other books on Hep C like Melissa Palmers' 'Hepatitis & Liver Disease', I related to this book and retained so much more of the information, it left me wanting more. My only regret was I wish it was much longer. Please write another.

5-0 out of 5 stars Healing/Curing Hepatitis C
This book is a page turner. Excellent read for anyone who is Hepatitis C virus positive still, or involved with people who have Hep C. There is a medical cure for a majority of people with this infection. This book provides much needed information about the disease and it's treatment. It is certainly an encouragement to people wondering if they too can beat Hep C.

5-0 out of 5 stars powerful book
Christopher Lawford has written a very powerful, informative book which deals with a serious disease. You'll want to read it - it's informative, easy-to-read, and simply a must!

5-0 out of 5 stars Genuine Hope
Healing Hepatitis C is a refreshing change of pace from most other HCV books. Written by Diana Sylvestre, MD and Christopher Kennedy Lawford - the format is a dialog between the two while they simultaneously speak directly to the reader. Sylvestre provides a physician's perspective and Lawford offers good humored insight from the patient's side. This book is warm, honest, and refreshing.

This book illustrates some of the turmoil that we experience over this disease, particularly regarding treatment. The strength of this book is that it is honest. Healing Hepatitis C is not highly technical yet it succeeds in getting across a lot of information without boring the reader. The Online Resource section provides tools for the reader wanting to know more about various aspects of HCV.

If you are touched by hepatitis C and you need a hearty dose of help, hope and inspiration, read Healing Hepatitis C.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Facts at Last
What a smart idea, first you get a former drug addict to tell us how he got Hepatitis C and what he did about it, and then you get an informed doctor to break it down for us.
What I once thought about Hepatitis C was that Hepatitis C is a death sentence. Now, Hepatitis C does not seem to be such a dark cloud, dead end.
Too many times in our past medical issues have been swept under the rug because of moral issues, "they did it to themselves", "they are weak people," same with HIV. People think that God placed a curse on them for being wicked. What happened to, "Judge not,"? It's my opinion that Dr. Sylvestre writes this book in the mindset of, "Let's get on with the job of beating back this virus, no matter how someone got Hepatitis C."
Thank God she saw a need and stepped up. If you ever get the chance to talk to the thousands of people Dr. Sylvestre has helped, one thing you will always hear is, "She didn't judge me, she helped me."
My family has four people with Hepatitis C. My mom got hers from a blood transfusion, my sister did not know how she caught hers (but she was a nurse). I and my brother got Hepatitis C from being IV drug users. Dr. Sylvestre treated us all as people.
My hope is that people read this book and become enlightened. I hope the doctors get off there high horses and help the people with Hepatitis C. I hope everyone who reads this becomes a strong advocate for themselves or anyone who has Hepatitis C.

5-0 out of 5 stars Help for anyone newly diagnosed with Hep C
For anyone newly diagnosed with Hep C the initial reaction can be one of shock and the result can be deep depression. This book helps to shed light on some of the common stages of accepting this disease.

4-0 out of 5 stars helping patients, friends, and family
Excellent book for patients. I would also suggest any patient, friend, or family alos read "Hepatitis C - through a patient's eyes", written by Suzy Smith, who went through the treatment, and wrote her book to help others with hep c get through the process with a positive outlook.

3-0 out of 5 stars The First Year-Hepatitis C
Although I think this is a good book to start with if you have recently been diagnosed, I find it lacking the depth I was looking for. It gives some great resources which is why I think it is a good book to start with, but at the same time, I would also suggest that you buy the following in addition to this. These are essential:"The Hepatitis C Helpbook"by Misha Ruth Cohen OMD and Robert G.Gish MD, "The Liver Cleansing Diet" by Dr Sandra Cabot, "Herbs for Hepatitis C and the Liver" by Stephen Harrod Buhner, and see if you can find "Who Gets Sick; How Beliefs, Moods, and Thoughts affect your health" by Blair Justice. The treatments out there are scary and can hurt you more than help you, so if you don't feel like poisoning yourself with a biotherapy, this is where to start.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hepatitis C byMontanarelli et al.
This is an excellent work for the layperson with very little
knowledge about Hepatitis A,B, C or the more exotic strains.
The authors describe a 6-7 week incubation period. Those
persons exposed have a 75-80% chance of infection with the HCV
virus and a 70% chance of developing the chronic form of
the hepatitis virus. In addition, there is a 10-20% chance of
developing the liver complication cirrhosis over a 20-30 year
period and a 1-5% chance of dying from a chronic liver condition. Hepatitis C is an RNA virus as opposed to a DNA
strain. Vaccination helps for the Hepatitis A and B strains
wherein 3 shots are administered over a 1/2 year period.
To reduce the likelihood of the disease, it is necessary
to reduce smoking , as well as exposure to all toxins.
The disease may be monitored with tests for bilerubin, albumin,
PT time and the anti-HCV antibody test. Treatment is enhanced
with reducing stress, commitments and responsibilities
until the condition is well under control. This work is perfect
for the layperson who seeks to prevent the disease or treat it
in the event of exposure and relevant symptomatology of
the disease process.

5-0 out of 5 stars This was helpful for a Teen who needed it
I work as a therapist in a teen counseling program, and one teen girl has just been diagnosed with HCV. She's experienced all the common reactions: denial, grief, "This is a death sentence and God doesn't want me to be happy," and fear. I bought this book for her and she devoured it. Her entire affect changed, and now she's teaching US how to relate to her, how to talk about this diagnosis, why certain things WE say are insensitive or incorrect (without knowing it), and what emtional and lifestyle changes she needs to make for health. This book alone reduced her fear in half, and made her feel confident rather than powerless. ... Read more

Product Description

A recent Institute of Medicine report has concluded that "there is a lack of knowledge and awareness about chronic viral hepatitis on the part of health-care and social-service providers, as well as among at-risk populations, members of the public, and policy-makers. Due to the insufficient understanding about the extent and seriousness of this public-health problem, inadequate public resources are being allocated to prevention, control, and surveillance programs". It is with these concerns in mind that Dr. Tsai assembled a group of experts in this field to present their expertise in such a level, where the practicing clinicians who deal with this disease in their daily practice can understand thereby implement this knowledge into their own practice. Dr. Brian McMahon discusses the natural history of chronic hepatitis B with his vast knowledge and experience working with the high endemic population of Inuit in Alaska; Drs. Marc Ghany and Ed provide a very easy-to-understand description of HBV virology; Dr. Kyon-Mi Chang contributes an article on HBV immunology, which is the least understood area of this disease but has the most potential to improve our knowledge in the management of chronic hepatitis B; Dr. Anna Lok provides an authoritative review on the current issues and controversies of treatment of chronic hepatitis B; Dr. Stephen Locarnini, who has extensive experience in anti-viral resistance and its management, presents important issues in the usage of currently available anti-viral oral agents; Dr. Myron Tong discusses the current understanding of HBV carcinogenesis and updates HCC surveillance and treatment-- the most dreadful outcome of this disease; Dr. Paul Martin discusses management of end- stage chronic hepatitis B -anti-viral therapy, montherapy vs combo.therapy, choice of agent, when to start therapy and post-transplant patients including duration of HBIG therapy, HBcAb(+)only recipient) and Occult HBV infection; Dr. Tram Tran discuss the treatment in reproductive women, during pregnancy, and prevention of vertical transmission in third trimester with antiviral agents-- an area with significant lack of good clinical evidence; Dr. Steve Han discuss management of patients with acute hepatitis B, co-infection with HDV/HCV/HIV, pre-immuno-suppressive therapy, and management of renal and heart transplant patients with HBV infection; Dr. Mei Huei Chang discusses Taiwanese success in implementing universal vaccination leading to a remarkable reduction in both prevalence of chronic hepatitis B and incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma; and finally Drs. Michelle Lai and Yun Fan Liaw provide a rundown of what we have accomplished and the hope for the future in our fight to control this disease.

Product Description
The global epidemic of hepatitis B and C is a serious public health problem. Hepatitis B and C are the major causes of chronic liver disease and liver cancer in the world. In the next 10 years, 150,000 people in the United States will die from liver disease or liver cancer associated with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections. Today, between 800,000 and 1.4 million people in the United States have chronic hepatitis B and between 2.7 and 3.9 million have chronic hepatitis C. People most at risk for hepatitis B and C often are the least likely to have access to medical services. Reducing the rates of illness and death associated with these diseases will require greater awareness and knowledge among health care workers, improved identification of at-risk people, and improved access to medical care.

Hepatitis B is a vaccine-preventable disease. Although federal public health officials recommend that all newborns, children, and at-risk adults receive the vaccine, about 46,000 new acute cases of the HBV infection emerge each year, including 1,000 in infants who acquire the infection during birth from their HBV-positive mothers. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for hepatitis C, which is transmitted by direct exposure to infectious blood.

Hepatitis and Liver Cancer identifies missed opportunities related to the prevention and control of HBV and HCV infections. The book presents ways to reduce the numbers of new HBV and HCV infections and the morbidity and mortality related to chronic viral hepatitis. It identifies priorities for research, policy, and action geared toward federal, state, and local public health officials, stakeholder, and advocacy groups and professional organizations. ... Product Description
Abstract: In many patients with chronic hepatitis, no obvious cause can be found. Some of these patients have an overactive immune system reaction that is responsible for the chronic inflammation. Diagnosis can be difficult because autoantibodies and other typical features of autoimmunity are not present in all cases. 2-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
I wanted to learn about Hepatitis B..not what this man ate on a daily basis.Did not find the book helpful at all.

2-0 out of 5 stars Informative
This book was very informative, not only in answering questions about Hepatitis B but alsoin describing the various other forms of the Hepatitis virus (A,C,D,& E). The book outlines common questions andanswers reqarding Hepatitis B and describes the author's cure which carriesa warning and disclaimer regarding the use of the combination of Interferonand Ribavirin (not sold in the US). I found most curious the author'sstatement on pages 11-12, "I started to pray very hard for God to helpme make the best decision. I went with my instincts because that was allthat I had left to rely on." If I could ask the author one question, Iwould ask him this. While he was praying, why didn't he just askHim..."for healing"? (Isaiah 53:5) ... Read more
