"Bayer encourages environmental stewardship," said Gary Hunt, Bayer's Health, Environment and Safety Manager who spearheaded the Pittsburgh wildlife habitat creation effort. "A lot of companies trying to do this will cycle up and down according to employee interest," he said. "But here at Bayer we seem to be more even-keeled with steady progress." More than 200 volunteers have given their time and expertise over two years to develop a wildlife habitat that includes hardwood forests, open meadows and fields and a pond. "There is quite a bit of bio-diversity here," said Hunt.
