Excerpt: Bridgetown Vocational College (BVC) is an Irish secondary school in Bridgetown, County Wexford, Ireland, managed by the County Wexford Vocational Education Committee (VEC). The College crest that appears on the school uniform and school diariesTechnical education in Ireland has a history that stretches back over hundreds of years. The Dublin Philosophical Society was founded in 1683 followed by the Royal Dublin Society in 1731. These learned bodies sought to promote improvements in agricultural husbandry, manufacture and the useful arts and to promote the study of the sciences. These initiatives saw the development of a number of regional centres. These in turn paved the way for the popular Mechanics' Institutes one of which was subsequently located in Wexford town. During the nineteenth century official bodies such as the Commissioners for National Education (1831) and the Department of Science and Art (1851) extended state support to technical and manual instruction. In 1893 the Technical Education Association of Ireland was founded and it articulated the need for a national system of technical training. 1899 saw the passing of the Agriculture and Technical Instruction (Ireland) Act. Some time after the enactment of the Vocational Education Act in 1930, a small experimental vocational school was established in rented accommodation in Bridgetown village. Description:
Management information system (MIS) students are one of the most important information system (IS) employee sources. However, the determinants of student's burnout for MIS major students have received little attentions, despite their importance as indicator in predicting professional burnout and their working intention after their graduation and becoming IS professionals. This study explores the antecedents of student burnout for MIS major at technical-vocational college. Self-efficacy, social support, and sex-role were considered as antecedents to MIS student burnout. A questionnaire method by self-administered technique was used in this study. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the hypotheses. Statistical results displayed that MIS students with social support, self-efficacy and femininity have predictive power over student burnout. MIS students with social support and masculinity also have predictive power over self-efficacy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent book for anyone that wants to succeed in a job
This book hits all the key points for a person starting a new job. Even though I have a college degree and I have had several jobs, I was always filled with anxiety about work and how to succeed in it. I was always a great student but in the workforce I lacked a lot of "people skills".

This book basically tells you how to act in the workforce and how not to act to build good relationship and even image. For instance, people who have been in the company for many years can get away with dressing a certain way that a new employee cannnot! It takes time to build a reputation and then you can relax. i have been a student for all my life and the workforce is very different. The book says it takes time to fit into an organization and time for people(your manager, coworkers) to get to know you. This book is filled with lots of tidbits. Anyone that wants to succeed in a new job needs to read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended
This book didn't have a bunch of filler words or stories simply to make it long, it was straight to the point and was very useful. Each chapter left you with something to think about and the people that wrote it really knew what they were talking about!

5-0 out of 5 stars Every fresh graduate should read this book
Its a simply written book, very concise and without any hype. I bought it because I felt I am not really able to gauge what is expected of me in the job and just 2 weeks into my dream job I started complaining.

I wish I had read this book before starting. Or even better, before I went for job interviews!!After reading this book I realised what mistakes I made during some of my job interviews.

This is the first review I have ever written for any book.

Product Description
With college costs rising faster than inflation year after year, getting that college degree is becoming less and less affordable for many students. Many of them take out sizable school loans only to find themselves overburdened by onerous loan payments. So many students look for part-time jobs while they're in college. Most of the well-known jobs are low paying jobs. Fast food and retail employ a lot of college students, but the wages are at or barely above minimum wage. The result is long hours for low pay-hours that could have been spent studying or partying. This book shows students how to find the unusual jobs that pay much more than average. The author draws on his expereinces while he was a college student. The stories in the book are true; the examples the author gives are real. The author used these same strategies to earn significantly more than minimum wage while he worked his way through college. This book will be helpful to college students and high school students trying to save money for college. The information will also be welcomed by parents who are writing the checks for their students' college expenses. ... Read more
