Serendipitous...
As well as being extremely detailed, intelligent and helpful, this book is hysterically funny, which makes it a joy to read and easy to understand. A nice change from the usual ...yawn... science-reference manuals. I would strongly encourage other students to take advantage of this terrific piece of work.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
This book promise so much by the wide coverage of topics in Organic lab. but it delivers nothing. Aside from listing the topics in the Table of content. The seemingly knowledable Prof. Zubric presents an unorganize, incomprehensible 294 pages of something that read like a page from a low budget Comic Strip. Am shock that a well respected publishing house like John Wiley and Son would lend their reputation to a low quality like this. The author talked about every thing that are irrelevant. what is needed is a good intro. to the subject like -EXTRACTION and then the stepwise layout of professional quality discussion of headings like - Materials involved; procedure; observation; conclusion etc. he fail to approach the subject prof. The book would pass for a Book of Short Jokes. Do not waste your money. D BOOK DID NOT HELP ME IN MY CLASS ANYWAY...

Infuriatingly patronizing
In terms of information, this book deserves four or five stars, but the author's tone and style are abysmal.Instead of gearing his writing towards a general audience, he assumes the reader is a bumbling, brain-dead premed who will do anything for that A in organic lab.If you have a reasonably good TA/lab prof., there really isn't a need for this book.Otherwise, it is good to have around, since it does present information appropriate for a typical one semester intro lab course.For more advanced organic lab courses, as well as research, I would recommend Advanced Practical Organic Chemistry by Leonard, Lygo, and Procter.

This is NOT a general chemistry lab reference book. It IS a biochemistry reference book.If you need a lab reference for general chemistry you need to look for something else.

This book is a great aid for the bench. It enables you to quickly find recipes for reagents used often, without the hassle of digging through volumes of more advanced manuals, and also provides tips that may be unavailable in such advanced manuals. It's also handy for the lab amateur, providing information as basic as how to prepare 1M stock solutions, and goes as far as telling you how to aliquot and store reagents when necessary!
