Groundbreaking Work
Using game theory this book tries to ask and answer several questions dealing with political survival.Using historical data, combined with game theory math, this book does an excellent job of laying out not only what they have found in their research, but also where additional avenues of research still exist.

I will say the book is not an easy read, though I think due to the subject matter and the complexity involved in the research, it's very well thought out and organized.Just know that the book isn't written as a quick read, but more of a text book which not only presents the theories of the authors, but attempts to prove those theories as well.

For anyone interested in political science and game theory, this book is well worth the money. ... Read more

This isn't a glossy coffee table book. It is a book by architects for architects from the middle of the 20th century -- documenting modern houses built by over 30 working architects.

The houses are documented with photographs, ground plans, elevations and statements by the architect(s) regarding the factors such as the site, the needs of the owners, climate, construction details, and cost.

Theory is not tossed out of the window. In an introductory section questions such as "What Is Modern?" are posed as the authors quickly cover topics such as "Revolt From Traditional Architecture" and "International Style a Misnomer." A concluding section features statements from the architects.

From the supplier: Meta-analysis was used to study the impact of physical activity, gender, experimental design and sufficiency of exercise on the VO2 of children. Sixty-nine such studies were conducted, 28 of which were employed for the analysis indicating effect sizes (ES) of 0.94 (1.00) and 0.35 (0.82) for cross-sectional (XS) designs and pretest-posttest (PP) designs. Research in PP design studies indicated that the children improved roughly 2 ml kg-1 min-1. Effect sizes were not influenced in any important way. The Vo2 max variations in subjects are minimal to moderate.
